🌞 TES Summer Sports Day 🌞

Last Friday, we celebrated our annual Summer Sports Day, and what a fantastic day it was! The entire morning and afternoon were full of joy and excitement as the students participated in many different games throughout the day.

A big thank you to the TES community for coming together and making it a success. We are also very grateful for the active help of TES families. Your support made this day truly special!

Little Explorers Summer Day Camp explores a different topic each day. The topics range from nature to traffic and transportation, and from food and cooking to music and dance. The daily activities consist of art/craft, sports, yoga, cooking and more. There will also be plenty of outdoor activities.

The day camp also offers field trips and active Estonian lessons. On Friday there will be a celebration to end up the week.

🔬TES Science Week 🔬

This week, S6 and S7 had an opportunity to show off their experimental skills and practice their speeches for the science symposium trip!

👩‍🔬On Monday, we had S6 show off their skills with the Briggs-Rauscher reaction & the iodine clock!

👨‍🔬Tuesday S7 demonstrated the same response that glowsticks have, producing light with luminol!

❄️On Wednesday, S7s demonstrated the different properties of dry ice and liquid nitrogen to all secondary and several nursery classes.

Finally, over the past two days, the students on their way to the symposium presented their different experiments and practised them in front of an audience.

🌍 Exciting News! 🌟

Last week, four students from Secondary 5 had the incredible opportunity to represent our school at the inaugural Model European Council (MEC) for Type II schools! 🎓🇪🇺

The event, hosted by the European School Strasbourg and held in the European Parliament, gave our students a real taste of the political atmosphere! 🏛️🌟

Within the UNESCO Music City Tallinn framework, the Primary students had a live concert and drumming workshop last week.

Well-known Estonian jazz drummer Reigo Ahven and his musical twin Francois Archanjo from Brazil visited Tallinn European School. Everyone present could try out the samba rhythms, including teachers and our school director, Mr Ian Karell. 😊

Today, we celebrate the 106th anniversary of the Republic of Estonia.

Wishing everyone a day filled with pride, joy, and unity! 🥳

This week was dedicated to celebrating the 106—anniversary of the Republic of Estonia. On Monday, we had a special guest lecture from Mr. Ilmar Raag, a film director and public figure who is also a well-known columnist. Mr. Raag gave a short overview of the history of Estonia and shared his thoughts about our willingness to protect and defend our beliefs.

The next day, we welcomed a guest from the folk-dance group Tulilinnud (Firebirds), who taught our students some Estonian traditional folk dances such as “Kaks sammu sissepoole, kaks sammu väljapoole” and “Oige ja vasemba”.

On Thursday during the lunch break, we had a flash mob in the canteen singing “Me armastame Eestit!” led by our music teacher Ms Annika Land-Reisser. Lastly, throughout the week, a corner dedicated to Estonia created by our Estonian language teachers, Ms Kadri Kakkum, Ms Miina Leemets, Ms Maris Maasikas, and Ms Kerli Päärson, was displayed in the 2nd floor lobby area.

🎶 Musical Adventure at the Estonian National Opera! 🎭

P2A and P2B, together with teachers, went to see the iconic piece of Camille Saint-Saëns, "Carnival of Animals", performed by the orchestra musicians of the Estonian National Opera.

Before the performance, we had a great opportunity to look into the backstage rooms and learn more about different opera house workshops. We could peek into the painting hall and see how the beautiful costumes are made.😊

📚✨Celebrating Success: TES' First Book Fair Triumph 📚✨

This week we had our first book fair ever and we are thrilled to share that it was a tremendous success, surpassing all expectations. Thank you! It wouldn't have been possible without any of you.

In a digital age, witnessing our students engage with books reaffirmed their love for reading, countering stereotypes about their interests. 📖💖

At the fair, we had the chance to explore a wide range of English-language books that unfortunately aren't always easily available at bookstores in Tallinn, or online.

Also, we all gained more than €1,000 worth of free high-quality books for our library and classrooms, enriching TES academic life even more.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our students, parents, families, and TES teachers and staff. Thank you for your engagement and enthusiastic support! 🌟📖

But as we celebrate this year's success, let's look forward to next year's adventure. Together, we will continue to foster a love for reading and learning among our students. We can't wait for what's next!
