ES Science Symposium, Day3
“Dear Parents, dear TES Community,
It is the end of day 3 for us here in Strasbourg. The science symposium has been an absolute delight, we have seen the 10 finalists present in front of the whole cohort and managed to fit in a few tourist activities this afternoon, along with some free time to explore. Klim and all of the students did an excellent job presenting, and we are excited to find out the results tomorrow.
Please find some photos of our activities from yesterday, and we hope to send more soon!
Kind Regards,
David & Agne.”

ES Science Symposium Day 2 feedback:
Dear Parents, Dear TES community,
We hope you are all doing well! Yesterday was an exciting day in Strasbourg. All of our students had the opportunity to experience the science symposium at its finest, meet with other students from all over Europe and discuss their projects. After an exciting morning, everyone spoke to the jury members and hoped to be entered into the finale. All of our students did very well, and we are very proud of all the dedication and effort they showed whilst explaining their research projects. We are especially pleased to announce that Klim Stepanko was named as one of the finalists and will be presenting today in front of a larger cohort of students and staff in the hope of winning first place for his category. We will keep you updated as best we can!
Kind Regards,
Agne & David.
Please see hereby some feedback from the team of pupils and teachers representing our school in the 17th European Schools' Science Symposium:
Dear Parents,
Just to let you know, in the course of the day, we arrived in Frankfurt with a few delays on the trains. Despite the delays, we managed to have an enjoyable experience on the public transport in delightful weather, enjoying some lunch in Offenburg, before being greeted in Strasbourg by members of the European School. We quickly dropped our bags off at our accommodation before heading to the opening ceremony, where many different individuals spoke about the event. We heard from the science inspector Max Wolff, Secretary-General Andreas Beckmann, and The Director of Strasbourg European School, Mr Tedde. In addition to these speeches, we also heard from Mr Sylvain Lodoit, who spoke about his experience working in the ESA deep space missions to get the students thinking and excited for the next few days.
We will keep you updated with further photos & messages, have a nice Europe Day!
Kind Regards,
Agne Junolainen & David McGregor
On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, TES organised a round table on Tuesday afternoon, May 3, to shed light on the profession of a journalist (compulsory studies, career prospects) and discuss the parallels between the control of the press before and during World War II and authoritarian control of the media during the current conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
The event was organised with the support of the French Institute and the French Embassy in Estonia as part of the French Presidency of the European Union. Marielle Vitureau, Radio France Internationale, and Herman Kelomees, fact-checker, journalist, and co-founder of Klikisäästja, were the scheduled panellists. The excellent panel moderators were our S7 students, Malia and Kristin.
We thank Mr Éric Lamouroux, Ambassador of France to Estonia, for his presence, the two journalists, the French Embassy and the French Institute, for giving us the opportunity and our S6 and S7 for their active participation in the panel. Many thanks to our teacher Kevin Kalomeni for the local organisation!
We look forward to continued cooperation with both institutions.
We wish you all a wonderful and peaceful spring holiday! See you in May!
