🎓Building the Foundation for Transformative Learning - DPI in Education 🌐

At the United Nations Global DPI Summit 2024, I had the privilege of presenting on how Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) can be a game changer in advancing inclusive, equitable lifelong learning.

DPI can create a learner-centered digital ecosystem that breaks down barriers, promotes innovation, and ensures inclusion across education systems globally.

Our session brought together experts from government, international organizations, and the private sector to discuss real-world examples and the challenges and opportunities in building robust digital education systems.

I presented based on the “Building the Case for DPI in Education” concept paper that we had put together over the past months. Please comment below, and I'll be happy to share the draft with you privately!

🚀 DPI is crucial for scaling education innovations and transforming education for all learners.

🌍🎉 Excited to have presented at the first Giga Connectivity Forum, organized by UNICEF and ITU. My topic: “The Power of Soft Infrastructure: The Case for Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for Education”. 🌐✨

Over 20 countries were represented, including ministers and secretaries of ministries. It was inspiring to share how we can empower people with innovative ideas to improve education and realize their visions. 💡📚

I’m confident that addressing some core challenges will lead to rapid improvements in global learning content and methodologies.

Grateful for the work we’ve done with DreamApply, demonstrating how we can build high-quality, sustainable solutions for education. In just over a decade, the DreamApply family has grown to more than 300 universities across 40 countries, significantly enabling young people to experience international learning. 🌎🎓

Our approach provides the essential digital building blocks to create effective learning ecosystems for the 21st century, contributing to achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4). 🏫

The vision was well-received, and the audience was engaged. It was a pleasure to discuss with representatives from international organizations and governments worldwide about the next steps.

A big thank you to the team who made this possible: Hani Eskander, Carolina, Peter, Evelien, Daniil, Anna. 🙏💪

Comment below if you would like to receive the vision document when finalised. Will make sure to send it to you.

I am excited to share that I am giving a talk at UNICEF's "Giga Connectivity Forum" on 10th of July in Geneva, Swizerland.

The Power of Soft Infrastructure: The Case for DPI for Education

This is a topic very close to my heart as I believe that soft infrastructure is critical for enabling people with ideas for improving education in realising their visions. I expect that if we solve some of the underlying challenges, we will see a rapid improvement in learning content and methodology internationally.

In my talk I will delve into the concept of Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) for Education, a framework proposed in the paper “The Case for DPI 4 Education”, which explores the potential of DPI to address the challenges and opportunities of digital learning.

While Giga focuses on connecting schools to the internet (physical infrastructure), true educational transformation requires more. DPI, or “soft infrastructure,” provides the essential digital building blocks to create effective learning ecosystems in the 21st century, contributing to SDG4. We will explore the potential of DPI for Education in countries where Giga is active.

Do let me know if you would like to receive an invite for the conference, we might be able to give out a few invites.

I had the incredible opportunity to speak at the Google for Education Leaders conference, engaging with representatives from the ministries of education and regional leaders from across 10 countries from across CEE. The topics that sparked interest included:

🚀 Education Innovation & Digitalisation in Estonia 💡 Empowering People with Ideas for Impactful, Scalable, and Sustainable Educational Solutions and Practical Examples: Speech Therapy with Speaktx University Admissions Management with DreamApply.

I was happy to see that my interventions received very positive feedback from the audience, and I enjoyed many great discussions during the networking breaks, delving into the details of the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research Haridus- ja Teadusministeerium strategy for improving education—exploring why and how it works so effectively.

💬 Interested in Learning More? If you’re curious about Estonia's approach to education digitalisation, please comment below! If we receive more than 20 requests, we'll gladly arrange a public webinar on this topic in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Research of Estonia.

It was really a pleasure to meet old and make new friends at the United Nations Global Education Coalition meeting UNESCO building in Paris.

The coalition brings many organisations together with the aim of improving access to education globally.

Based on UN data 250 million children still lack access to education. Around 300 million people lack access to higher education.

From my perspective the most interesting discussions were connected to how we could empower people with ideas of making education better and more accessible. I was happy to see that quite a few organiations are seeing the need for improvement and are working on those questions.

Thrilled to share that I had the honor to give a talk at the Lithuanian EdTech Week conference! 🇱🇹🎓

We looked into the latest trends, innovations, and insights shaping the future of education. 🚀✨ With the aim to inspire and empower educators, learners, decision makers and innovators based on invaluable DreamApply and Edtech Estonia experience! 💡👩‍🏫

I have been happy to witness that Lithuania has been pushing the boundaries for education innovation very rapidly in the recent years. EdTech was announced as one of the top 5 priorities of the prime minister and since 2022 we can see a powerful push in the sector development.

As always, there is a lot of work still to be done and I wish the best of luck to the people involved. Rūta Krasauskienė - Head of National Agency for Education, Justina Kugytė - CTO of the Minisitry of Education Indre Suoliene - director of EdTech Center, and Jurgita Jaruševičienė - Chairwoman of the board of EdTech Lithuania! Together you make a truly powerful team! Probably the most powerful team in EdTech sector development in the world today!

In addition to being strong you are also amazing Human beings! I have very much enjoyed the discussions with you. I feel grateful in my heart. It's been truly pleasure to play a little part of this journey!
