Bonsai After-School Program

Ecuador and many other countries around the world celebrate International Children’s Day every June 1st. This year, Children’s Day at Bonsai , was pure joy! 🎉

We had pizza for lunch, banana splits for snack, and a sweet treat to take home. We played games and had a photo scavenger hunt that had kids and the tias sprinting through every corner of the church to find the next clue. Both kids and adults had a blast!

A huge thank you to Trinity for continuing to provide school supplies for our Bonsai kids. Because of you, every student walked in on day one with full backpacks.

And thank you to the Jacobsons for coordinating and personally bringing some of the supplies down to us. Getting them here takes real work behind the scenes, and we don’t take it for granted.

We’re grateful for partners who show up year after year and make sure our kids feel supported from the very first day.

One of our favorite things about Bonsai isn’t just what we teach the kids — it’s what they teach us 🫶

Our students jump in to help even sometimes without being asked. They refill water bottles, help younger kids with homework or to play games when we’re short on volunteers, and team up to help build projects from start to finish. They’re not just learning here… they’re leading.

Proud doesn’t even cover it.

Back to school mode activated at Bonsai 📚⏰

Mornings are rough, all re-learning how to wake up before 8am again. But honestly? We’re pumped. New routines, new challenges, and a whole school year of kids growing, learning, and surprising us.

Here’s to early alarms, full backpacks, and a great year ahead. Let’s do this 💪

Vacation’s almost over but we’re going out delicious at Bonsai 🥟 Our kids rolled up their sleeves and learned to make corviches from scratch. Chopping, grating, mixing, shaping….. and then the best part: eating every last crumb 😋 Nothing beats summer break with full bellies and new skills.

Summer break at Bonsai = paint everywhere 🎨☀️ Our kids turned blank canvases into wild masterpieces today. No rules, just colors, creativity, and a few shirts we’ll never get clean again. Love watching them explore and create.

The fun keeps rolling at Bonsai this summer! ☀️ This week: making slime and eating pizza. 🧪🍕 Tia Nelly is making sure her kids stay sharp with their multiplication facts too. Sticky fingers, full bellies, happy kids.

✨Celebrating Valeska! After 7 amazing years in Bonsai, she’s officially a high-school grad! 🎓 We’ve watched her grow and mature, and now she’s off to college for the next big adventure. So proud of you, Valeksa—keep shining!
