Delicious ground or whole roasted coffee at a good price in Cuenca
When you buy coffee, do you pay attention to what type of coffee you are buying? There are four main types of grain that we can consider to be commonly consumed: Arabica coffee, Robusta coffee, Liberica coffee and Excelsa coffee.
The reality is that most people, lovers or not of good coffee, do not pay attention to what variety they buy, they simply worry that it is black and suitable for preparing the coffee we are used to.
The arabigo coffee or coffea arabica belongs to the family of the Rubiaceae plants. This variety of coffee mainly comes from the mountains of Ethiopia and Yemen, although there are varieties of Arabica that are grown in South America, Central America or Asia. The plants usually reach 8 to 12 meters in height, and are grown in high altitude terrain, at least 800 meters. For this reason, collecting arabica coffee beans is more laborious, which increases its price considerably.
Currently, this type of bean represents more than 50% of world coffee production, something that makes it the most cultivated in the world. Therefore, it is very likely that, although you may not know it, you drink coffee made from arabica beans every morning.
So what is 100% Arabica coffee? If we are faced with this denomination, it means that the roaster has only used grain of the Arabica variety.
Normally, coffee experts consider Arabica coffee an exquisite species and much finer than other varieties, which are stronger or more powerful for the palate. In this case, the aromatic coffees from this bean have a balance of flavors, with a pleasant acidity accompanied by sweet or fruity notes, in contrast to other more bitter beans.
When one wonders about the benefits of arabica compared to other types, it falls to the fact that its properties are not too far from what we assume that black coffee causes.
Also, this grain has a diuretic effect due to its potassium salts. It also increases intestinal activity and gastric motility, as well as reduces the risk of diabetes, heart disease or even according to some studies it also prevents the risk of cancer. In short, consuming coffee based on Arabica beans in its proper measure can cause improvements for the body and helps to lead a healthy life if combined with a good diet.
On the other hand, and although its level of concentrated caffeine in each bean is lower than other families such as robusta, arabica coffee has stimulating, energetic attributes that activate the nervous and neuromuscular system. That is why, exceeding its consumption can cause insomnia or severe sleep disturbances, depending on the body of each consumer. In addition, a totally abusive consumption could cause health problems such as headaches, palpitations or even different types of heart problems.
