The University of El Oued is a non-profit public higher education institution located in the suburban city of El Oued. Officially recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Algeria, the University of El Oued is a large coeducational Algerian higher education institution that offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor's degrees, master's degrees, doctorate degrees in several areas of study. The University of El Oued also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students, including a library, housing, sports facilities, financial aid and scholarships, study abroad and exchange programs, online courses, and distance learning opportunities, as well as administrative services. The University of El Oued was named the University of Hamma Lakhdar, pursuant to decision No. 01/14 dated 29 Dhu al-Hijjah 1435, corresponding to October 23, 2014, containing the consecration of naming university institutions, where the university is still in development and reached the academic year 2015 / 2016 to the census of more than 20,000 students and 900 professors divided across eight faculties.
