Discussion Topic :The Role of Literature in Shaping Societal Change
At Lounici Reads, we believe literature is more than a reflection of society it is a transformative force capable of challenging norms, inspiring action, and giving a voice to the unheard. As members of this club, we aim to explore how literature from different eras and genres has contributed to shaping societal change, offering us tools to think critically about our world.
Throughout history, literature has sparked pivotal moments of social and cultural transformation. For example, Harriet Beecher Stowe’s Uncle Tom’s Cabin fueled the abolitionist movement in the United States, exposing the inhumanity of slavery and becoming a catalyst for political and social reform. Likewise, George Orwell’s 1984 has served as an enduring critique of authoritarianism, warning generations about the dangers of surveillance and propaganda.
Contemporary literature continues to influence society in powerful ways. Novels such as Angie Thomas’s The Hate U Give tackle modern issues like racial inequality and police violence, proving that the written word remains an essential tool for activism. By addressing universal themes, literature fosters empathy, challenges biases, and sparks conversations about how to create a more equitable society.
As we gather on Thursday, December 12th, at 1:00 PM, the members of Lounici Reads will discuss how literature has shaped, and continues to shape, society. Together, we will explore questions such as: what makes some books timeless tools for change? How does fiction differ from non-fiction in its ability to inspire action? And how can we, as readers and thinkers, harness the power of literature in our lives? This meeting is an opportunity for reflection, engagement, and shared inspiration.

With the permission of the President of the Media Club, Mr. Ben Ali Aymen, and in the presence of the managing members of the Media Club, Mr. Diaa Eddine Al-Ishaoui and Nawal Ismailia, Mr. Menasri Abdel Wadoud was officially appointed this afternoon, November 26th, 2024, as the new head of the Lounici Reads – English- branch of the Media Club, succeeding the former president, Safia Mchakef.
This appointment aims to uphold the noble mission of Lounici Reads in preserving the sanctity of knowledge and education. It also seeks to involve and train students in the English language, improving their various linguistic skills while strengthening the branch's presence in the university community. The initiative aspires to position the branch as a prominent player on the literary and intellectual scene among universities, thanks to its unique and distinguished vision.
We also take this opportunity to express our gratitude to the former president, Safia Mchakef, for all her efforts in maintaining the activity and reputation of the branch under its enduring slogan,

Today, on the occasion of the International Students Day, November 19th, lounici read contributed by sharing cards with university students, which carried quotes on mental health and in the midst of deep intellectual concepts .
Thank you to all the members of lounici reads the organizers of this unique campaign, and thank you to all the students of the University of Blida 2 who interacted with us in this campaign .

📍Here's the summary of our last discussion "A Real Relapse After Greatly Worshiping: The Expected Setback After the Holy Month of Ramadan".
💠A setback is when something slows down or stops a process. In our discussion we talked about setbacks and here is a list of words are related to our topic: relapsen, backing down, decline, and laziness.
🔹️Now, let's look at Muslims after Ramadan: Do they keep, deepen, or weaken their habits?

✅After fasting and doing good deeds for a month, Eid brings joy, new clothes, and treats. But as the excitement of Eid fades, old habits return: noise, insults, listening to music in public, wearing less modest clothes, and empty mosques.
🔹️This makes us wonder: why do Muslims become like that? Has Ramadan become a routine where we fast and pray, but stop doing good things once it's over?
✅So, here there are some reasons as follow:
1/ Believing that good deeds and acts of worship are specific to Ramadan only.
2/Believing that bad deeds are caused only by demons.
3/Forgetting that allah is watching us, all time and places, and in everything we do.
4/People forget advising each other and forbidding bad deeds.
5/People neglected being reminded of Allah punishment and reward.
6/Believing people in incorrect arguments, and misunderstand some religious texts.
For ex:
And certainly this is due to ignorance and failure to research and understand religion properly.
7/ People forgot the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad_peace be upon him_, and forgot El Qouraan.
8/ Muslims forgot to judge themselves.
9/ Muslims do not pray for Allah to bless them and guide them to what is more better, then what they are doing.
10/ People believing that all what they are Worshiping is of their own desire, not by the mercy of Allah.
