Professor Nick Taylor, Professor of English & Comparative Literature at San José State University and Director of the Cox Center for Steinbeck Studies, will discuss John Steinbeck and Algeria on Monday, June 1 at 19:00 (Algiers time) via Zoom.

Discover the rich literary connections between the United States and Algeria through the lens of major American author John Steinbeck and Algerian writer Mohammed Dib. Professor Taylor, co-translator of Dib's 1954 novel The Fire, will explore how literary traditions intersect across cultures and continents, examining universal themes of fire, transformation, and human resilience that connect these two great writers.

Following our recent inauguration, the American Corner Constantine hosted today Monday 18th May 2026 at 1:00 PM its very first event: a deep dive into the Barbary Wars and the early diplomatic ties between the U.S. and Algiers.
We were honored to welcome the eminent American historian Prof. Frank Lambert, whose insights into this complex shared history captivated our audience.
A massive shout-out to our dedicated volunteers. From tech support during the Zoom visio-conférence to managing the Q&A, your energy made this debut a resounding success. We are so proud of this team!
