Other Ways to Say "The United States of America"

-the United States
-America
-the States

Some people don't like it when people use "America" because in their countries, they learn that there is a continent called "America".

But in the United States, most of Western Europe, China, India, and the Philippines, we do not learn that there is one continent called "America". We learn that North America and South America are two separate continents, and there are 7 continents in total.

In these countries, it is very clear that "America" refers to the United States because they never learn about a continent called "America".

So when people from the US say that they are "from America", they don't say this because they think they are special. They say this because to them, "America" is always a country and never a continent.

And in some countries, they learn that there are 4 continents. In some countries they learn that there are 5. In some countries they learn that there are 6.

No one is right or wrong. They have just used different definitions of the word continent or applied those definitions differently.

📌 شرح مبسط لطريقة تصريف ال verb to be في زمن الماضي:
✅ صيغه في الماضي وطريقة تصريفه:
🌞 I was = انا كنت
🌞 You were = انت كنت
🌞 He was = هو كان
🌞 She was = هي كانت
🌞 It was = هو / هي كانت
🌞 We were = نحن كنا
🌞 You were = أنتم كنتم
🌞 They were = هم كانوا
✅ أما عن استخداماته فهي تتعدد ما بين الآتي:
🎈 يستخدم كفعل أساسي داخل الجملة كما نلاحظ في الأمثلة التالية:
🫀 I was a doctor.
أنا كنت أستاذ.
🫀Last night, he was so busy.
في الليلة الماضية كان مشغولا جدا.
🫀They were completely different.
كانوا مختلفين كليا.
