Another rewarding peer observation day took place at Omer Ben Kouider Middle School, where we had the pleasure of witnessing two excellent demonstration lessons.

First, Mr. Hamza Azzouze and then Ms. Soumia Chadadi each led a session with their 1MS classes. Both lessons were carefully prepared and delivered with real skill. What stood out was their clear understanding of what their learners need—they used a range of strategies and designed tasks that truly served the lesson goals. By the end of each class, those objectives had been smoothly met.

Both teachers also demonstrated strong command of their classrooms and excellent timing. The learners were fully involved and so at ease that our presence didn’t distract them; they carried on as if we weren’t even there.

All in all, these were master classes in teaching—examples any educator could learn from.

A heartfelt thank you to all the teachers from Omer Ben Kouider and Ben Madani Abdeljabar who took part so thoughtfully. Their reflections during our follow-up discussion added tremendous value to the day. We’re also very grateful to the headmaster of Omer Ben Kouider School for his unwavering support, which made this collaborative experience so meaningful and successful.

An in-House Peer Observation training day was a fantastic success at both Azzeddine Belhadj and Gaza Belhadj Middle Schools. We were treated to two demonstration lessons, first from Ms. Hadjer Aissaoua and then from Ms. Hadil Ben Omrani. A huge thank you to all the teachers from both schools who participated so thoughtfully—your insights during the reflective discussion afterwards were invaluable. We're also deeply grateful to the headmasters of both schools for their full support, which was essential in making this collaborative day so rewarding.

I am pleased to report on another successful CAPEM exam held at Saad Ben Lachehab Middle School in the extreme south of the Wilaya. The session was led by teacher trainee Sofiane Mohamoudi, who demonstrated a commendable and accepted level of mastery in his teaching practice.
Mr. Mohamoudi conducted two seamless sessions with 4MS learners, showcasing strong foundational skills. His lessons were marked by excellent planning, thoughtful task selection, and effective classroom management. He skillfully employed teaching techniques such as ICQs and CCQs to check for understanding, and consistently engaged his students through positive acknowledgment, clear visual aids, and expressive body language.
A particular standout was his pronunciation and accent, which provided an excellent model for the learners. Based on this performance, I am confident that Sofiane has the potential to become a highly effective educator who will positively influence his students and foster a genuine love for learning English.
My sincere congratulations to Mr. Mohamoudi on this achievement. We look forward to his continued growth and success.

Following my observation of Ms. Hadibi's class with 3MS learners at Hassan Basri Middle School in Sidi Ameur, I was thoroughly impressed. The session was engaging and well-executed. Ms. Hadibi demonstrates a natural aptitude for the classroom, and I am confident she is on the path to becoming a highly successful educator. This is excellent work, and she should be encouraged to continue on this trajectory.

A Shining Example at Azeddine Belhadj Middle School, in SLIM.
A huge congratulations to Ms. Hadjer Aissaoua on her successful CAPEM exam!
Today, we had the pleasure of seeing her put that expertise into action during a confirmation exam lesson, observed by jury members Mrs. Nadia Benacer and Ms. Noura Bouras.
We witnessed two fantastic sessions, with the 4th-year Middle School class being a particular highlight. It was a masterclass in how to run a vibrant, interactive, and effective classroom. The lesson, a Tutorial session review of Sequence 1, was meticulously planned and achieved its objectives beautifully. The students were fully engaged and clearly eager to participate.
What truly made the lesson stand out was the thoughtful use of strategies and tools:
- A Rich Toolkit: The lesson seamlessly incorporated worksheets, visuals, and ICTs, creating a dynamic learning environment.
- Making Reading a Joy: Using a "picture book" strategy to approach the text was brilliant. It helped demystify key vocabulary and made the reading process fun and accessible for everyone.
- Skilled Facilitation: Ms. Aissaoua expertly elicited answers from students and had them read instructions themselves, fostering independence. Her constant movement around the room to check work ensured no learner was left behind.
- Assessment as a Compass: She began by checking prior knowledge and used a Wordwall game for a lively spot-check of understanding, allowing for instant reteaching when needed.
Learning Through Play: The "4 Corners" game was a fantastic way to get students moving and reading actively. Ms. Aissaoua’s skillful monitoring ensured the game remained focused and productive.
- Clear Communication & Conclusion: The use of CCQs and ICQs guaranteed students always knew what to do. Wrapping up with an exit ticket was the perfect way to solidify the lesson's key takeaways.
- Valuing Every Student: Most importantly, she used a variety of strategies to recognize and affirm each learner's efforts.
It was an inspiring demonstration of student-centered teaching. Well done to everyone involved!

Ensuring Our Email Communication is Effective and Reliable
Lately, I've noticed a growing concern that's preventing us from communicating as effectively as we should. Important messages are sometimes delayed or aren't being received at all, often because of issues with email delivery.
A common cause is that email addresses on file aren't always actively monitored or may have been entered incorrectly. To make sure we're all on the same page and no one misses critical updates, I'm asking everyone to take a moment to verify that their registered email address is correct and that they are consistently checking it.
This simple step will help ensure our entire team stays informed and connected.

A Quick Word on Diagnostic Tests and the ALO

Hi team,

I've heard from several of you who are planning diagnostic tests and also have questions about the Assessment of Learning Outcomes (ALO). This is a great opportunity to combine these tasks.

Frankly, I have reservations about the reliability of last year's 5th-grade ALO data. So, my strong recommendation is the same one we discussed in our training: use the ALO format for your diagnostic test.

Here’s how it works:

Design your diagnostic around the 5th-grade exit profile.

Follow the ALO layout to assess all four skills.

I've shared three sample ALOs you can use directly or adapt.

This approach lets you gather the baseline data you need for targeted remediation while familiarizing students with the ALO format. It's an efficient way to meet both goals at once.

Hey awesome amazing teachers!
Collecting data about learners before you form a plan is essential — it’s the classroom equivalent of a doctor diagnosing before prescribing. Please don’t launch into long remediation or weeks of “general revision” without first giving a short diagnostic that maps to the previous level’s exit profile. Use the diagnostic results to design targeted remediation and short, focused review activities that prepare learners for the new sequence. This approach saves time and improves learning outcomes.
Review the exit profile & macro objectives of the preceding level.
Design a short, focused diagnostic aligned to those objectives.
Analyze results against target objectives and flag priority gaps.
Plan targeted remediation for flagged areas (class-level, small-group, individual).
Keep revision short and purposeful — use brief refreshers and spaced retrieval. The payoff? We save precious instructional time, reduce student frustration, and build a foundation of confidence by showing learners we're addressing their specific needs. We move from being curriculum deliverers to learning architects.
