Ready for a science vocabulary challenge? 🔬
These five verbs may look difficult at first, but they all follow the same spelling change:
GASIFY → GASIFIED
VITRIFY → VITRIFIED
DENSIFY → DENSIFIED
OPACIFY → OPACIFIED
SOLIDIFY → SOLIDIFIED

When a verb ends in a consonant + Y, we change the Y to I and add -ED:
CARRY → CARRIED
TRY → TRIED
CRY → CRIED
But when a vowel comes before Y, we keep the Y:
PLAY → PLAYED ✅
