Our 5th grade students engaged in a STEM activity, in small groups they had to craft shelters for a Lego figure using items found in the school environment. This hands-on experience served as our introduction to their Native Americans theme.

Keeping up to date with the world’s efforts to create a better and safer place, we decided to join the United Nations in their journey. The topic for this year’s Science Fair was centered on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals. These goals are a blueprint which all countries are invited to follow in order to see a significant improvement in the planet and all the people living on it. Thus, our topic was:
OVERCOMING THE WORLD’S CHALLENGES
Our science team identified which goals fit best within the context of the class and decided to focus on the following:
7th- Life Below Water & Life on Land
8th- Affordable and Clean Energy
9th- Climate Action
10th & 11th- Clean Water and Sanitation, Affordable and Clean Energy and Sustainable Cities and Communities.
12th- Sustainable Cities and Communities.
Thank you to everyone who came and enjoyed our students' presentations.

What makes a place a destination? This was the question that guided our 7th graders throughout the trimester while studying the 5 Themes of Geography and applying their learning to countries from Asia that piqued their curiosity. Why would someone go to India or Vietnam? Why the United Arab Emirates or Indonesia? Students researched what made each country special and interesting to the public. They decided on a common theme or thread to unify their presentations and recreated a Food Truck Park to present their findings. It was a delicious and delightful experience!
