Final sunset of our 10 day not stop repositioning of Miss Roxy. Samana, Dominican Republic to St. Augustine. St. Augustine isn’t the final destination, just a pit stop. Our final destination is Norfolk Virgina.

This complaint is going to sound braggy, but I wish we had a little more wind 💨 for our sail from Antigua to St. Barth today. 😉 🌊

Yesterday, we left the anchorage at the sweet town of Deshaies (pronounced day-ay), Guadaloupe and sailed to Gary’s new favorite place. This town of Port-Louis, Guadaloupe is a sailer-surfer’s paradise in the Caribbean. Within 30 minutes of dropping the anchor, Gary was surfing a wave. 🌊

And off we go! We have lots of wonderful memories and friendships from our hurricane season in Grenada (separate memory post to follow), but today we got back on the water and officially began our third sailing season. From now until May, we will be somewhere in the Caribbean slowly cruising northward toward the East Coast.

July 2024 - Fun times in Grenada 🤩moored / docked at Le Phare Bleu, unexpected journey to Trinidad to escape Hurricane Beryl, so many memories with the then-crew of SV Manava, and finally, haulout at Clark’s Court.

With Milton and Helene’s devastation, it’s hard to believe the hurricane season is ever going to die down. But like many cruisers out there, our family is already gearing up for the next sailing season. We are preparing to depart Virginia and return to Grenada to launch Miss Roxy for our next and final season of cruiser life. Before we do that, I need to do a few “catch up” posts of wonderful memories and friendships in the last months of our second sailing season. This set of photos is from April and May. I will post photos from June to August 2024 separately.

We made it to Grenada! 🎉 On Nov 4, 2023, we shoved off of the dock at Southall Landing in Hampton, Virginia for our second sailing season. 33 weeks and 2,700 miles later, we tied up to the dock in St. George’s, Grenada for hurricane season. Cheers to skipper-daddy-hubby Gary, who kept us safe and moving throughout our Caribbean adventure! 🥂

A photo retrospective from our season: March was Puerto Rico! We arrived in Salinas on the south coast, took a land excursion for site-seeing and American shopping in the southern coastal city of Ponce, stopped by an anchorage in Puerto Patillas, docked for a couple of weeks in Marina Palmas Del Mar, and toured Old Town San Juan before flying out of San Juan Airport for my mom’s celebration of life in Virginia. Looking back on our time there (it feels like so long ago!), I remember how at-home we felt on this American island in the Caribbean.
