Rafael Clavero llegó a ISLA con tan solo 10 años, sin hablar inglés ni español. Al principio, usaba el traductor para poder entender sus clases, pero rápidamente nos demostró su inteligencia, perseverancia y capacidad de adaptación.

Rafael Clavero arrived at ISLA when he was just 10 years old, without speaking English or Spanish. At first, he used a translator to understand his classes, but he quickly showed us his intelligence, perseverance, and ability to adapt.

Con el tiempo, Rafael aprendió ambos idiomas, construyó comunidad y dejó una huella muy especial en ISLA. Hoy sigue sus sueños de convertirse en jugador profesional de tenis, y nos comparte cómo su experiencia en ISLA lo ayudó a desarrollar independencia, confianza y disciplina.

Over time, Rafael learned both languages, built community, and left a very special mark at ISLA. Today, he continues to follow his dream of becoming a professional tennis player, and he shares how his experience at ISLA helped him develop independence, confidence, and discipline.

In Phase 1, students explored the creation of nests, observing how animals build their homes and the materials they use.

Through this experience, they began to understand how humans are often inspired by nature to create — a direct connection to our technology unit, where design and innovation frequently stem from the natural world.

By building, exploring, and experimenting, students discover that technology is not separate from nature, but often learns from it.

ISLA Academy Las Terrenas now welcomes children starting at age 2 for the 2026 to 2027 school year.

Families with two year olds now have the chance to begin their child’s learning journey at ISLA from the start. Children grow in a joyful space where curiosity, independence, creativity, and play guide each day.

ISLA brings together students from more than 40 nationalities across three campuses in the Dominican Republic. Graduates continue on to universities around the world and earn diplomas accredited by the Middle States Association.
