🎒BACK TO SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS! 🎒

Monday, September 7, 2026

The new school year is just around the corner! Students, it’s time to start getting yourselves ready for another exciting school year.

After a long and well-deserved break, now is the perfect time to gradually adjust your routines and get back into “school mode.”

👨‍👩‍👧 Parents & Guardians, help your child get ready:

âś… Start adjusting bedtime and wake-up times
âś… Get uniforms, books, school bags, and supplies organized
âś… Review transportation and daily routines
âś… Encourage regular reading and learning activities
âś… Talk with your child about goals and expectations for the new school year
âś… Begin preparing for the transition back to a structured school day

Students, it’s time to get ready!

Start getting those sleeping and waking hours back on track. Organize your school supplies, prepare your uniform, set some goals, and get your mind ready for the year ahead.

A new school year is a fresh start. A chance to learn, grow, make positive choices, and give your best each day. ✨

Remember, students return to school on Monday, September 7, 2026.

Let’s get prepared and make the 2026/2027 academic year a great one! 💙💛📚

A New Chapter for Early Childhood Education in Soufriere

Yesterday, Tuesday, August 11, 2026, marked a special occasion for the community of Soufriere as the Dominique Marchand Pre-School was officially handed over to the Ministry of Education.

Located in Brooklyn, Soufriere, the new preschool provides a welcoming and permanent space for our youngest learners and represents an important investment in early childhood education in Dominica.

For years, children in the community were accommodated in temporary facilities following the devastation of Hurricane Maria. Today, we celebrate the opening of a permanent space designed to provide our children with a more suitable environment in which to learn, play, grow, and thrive.

The Ministry of Education extends sincere appreciation to Jungle Bay Dominica, its proprietor Mr. Sam Raphael, their guests, staff, and everyone who contributed to bringing this project to fruition. A special expression of gratitude is also extended to the Redekop Family Endowment for its significant financial contribution to this important project. Their generous support has helped make this new space for our youngest learners a reality. This facility represents what can be achieved when the public and private sectors, along with generous partners, come together in support of our children and communities.

As we share these moments from yesterday's handover ceremony, we celebrate not just a new building, but a new beginning for the children of Soufriere.

Every child deserves a safe, nurturing, and inspiring place to begin their educational journey.

HAPPY INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY 2026!

“Different Contexts, Common Aspirations”

The Ministry of Education, Human Resource Planning, Vocational Training and National Excellence extends its warmest wishes to all the youth of Dominica on International Youth Day.

Young people may come from different backgrounds, communities and circumstances, but across these differences are common hopes, dreams and aspirations. The desire to learn, to be heard, to have opportunities, to build meaningful lives and to contribute to a better future unites young people everywhere.

Today, we celebrate the unique experiences and perspectives of Dominica's youth while recognizing the aspirations they share. May you continue to use your voices, embrace your differences, support one another, and work together to shape the future you envision for yourselves, your communities, and Dominica🇩🇲.

Different contexts. Different journeys. Common aspirations. One shared future.

Happy International Youth Day!

Every child deserves a classroom where they feel seen, heard, and safe. Every teacher deserves the tools to make that possible.

Teachers participating in the 2026 Dominica Association of Teachers (DAT) Summer Institute strengthened their skills in Empathy in the Classroom and Bullying Prevention through two interactive professional development sessions facilitated by Gezel Mondesire-Charles, Country Programme Coordinator for the Full Potential: Gender Equity, Inclusion and Innovation Project.

The sessions equipped educators with practical strategies to foster empathy, build positive relationships, recognise and respond to bullying behaviours, and create safe, inclusive and supportive learning environments where every student feels respected, valued and empowered to succeed.

As schools continue to prioritise student well-being alongside academic achievement, strengthening teachers' capacity in empathy and bullying prevention remains essential to nurturing positive school cultures and ensuring every child has the opportunity to thrive.
