Deleon Fontaine Graduates Cum Laude with BA in Music
Deleon Fontaine of Wesley, Dominica, has reached another meaningful milestone, graduating cm laude from the University of the Southern Caribbean (USC) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, with an emphasis in Music Education.
Deleon’s journey is a testimony to the value and impact of Christian education. His academic foundation was laid at the Temple Seventh-day Adventist Primary School, where he distinguished himself early by capturing the second position in the Grade Six National Assessment, placing his school in the national spotlight.
He started his secondary education at the Arthur Waldron Seventh-day Adventist Academy (AWSDAA) before attending Caribbean Union College Secondary School in Trinidad for three years. He later returned to the AWSDAA, where he completed his final two years, graduated as Salutatorian of the Class of 2022, and captured several subject prizes.
That same year, Deleon ranked among the top four performers at the CSEC examinations. His outstanding performance earned him a scholarship from USC, where he pursued his passion for music within another Seventh-day Adventist institution.
Throughout his university journey, Deleon remained actively involved in campus life and ministry. He was a member of the Dominica Club, and served as Public Relations Officer in his final year. He contributed his musical gifts to several groups and ensembles, including the USC Jazz Band, USC Concert Band, HisLuv Choir, USC Praise Team, UWI Concert Band, and TTYP. In his final year, he also served as the representative for the Music Department.
Deleon became especially known for his ability to arrange and compose music. This gift was showcased in a special way when his latest composition, “Fear Not,” was performed at his graduation ceremony, with Deleon conducting the piece.
His achievement reflects not only academic excellence, but also the nurturing influence of Christian education, supportive family and community, and a commitment to using God-given talents in meaningful ways.
As Deleon moves into this new chapter, he desires to use his skills in music and education to inspire others, uplift hearts, and minister through the gift God has entrusted to him. His family gives God thanks for His guidance, provision, and faithfulness throughout Deleon’s journey, and looks forward to seeing how He will continue to lead in the years ahead.
May his journey continue to remind young people that when gifts are surrendered to God, they can become instruments of service, ministry, and purpose.
