Are you a professional with responsibility and ready to sharpen your leadership in a room?

🌟 Member Spotlight: Mark Larsson 🌟

Mark is a mentor, former Vice President of Education, club contest winner, and one of our most active Toastmasters of the Evening for 2025–2026.

Mark helps make Speak to Lead feel both professional and welcoming. He brings structure, calm energy, and a clear sense of direction to the room. His strength is practical leadership. Whether mentoring, facilitating, or competing, Mark shows how communication improves through preparation, repetition, and service.

“Toastmasters has become a place where I can develop my communication in a very practical way. Whether I am mentoring another member, leading a meeting, or preparing for a contest, I am reminded that confidence grows through repetition, feedback, and practice. Speak to Lead challenges me to be clear, structured, and supportive. It gives me a space to keep improving how I express ideas, connect with others, and communicate with more confidence in front of a room.”

Professionally, Mark is Head of Compliance Assurance, with experience within compliance, internal audit, internal controls, IT audit and risk management. Mark uses Toastmasters as a practical arena to keep sharpening his communication skills in discussions, structuring messages, and providing feedback to support others.

His contribution reflects the Toastmasters values of Respect, Integrity, Service, and Excellence: being reliable, prepared, and focused on helping others improve.

✨ Two guests, one unforgettable evening ✨

Some evenings remind us exactly why we do this.

Not long ago, August and Gayeong walked into a Speak to Lead meeting as first-time guests — curious, maybe a little nervous, like most people are on their first visit. By the end of the night, they'd both stepped up for Table Topics, thinking on their feet in front of a room full of new faces.

And August didn't just participate — he won the Best Table Topics award. 🏆 On his very first visit.

That's what we love about this club. You don't need experience. You don't need to be a member. You just need to show up and give it a try — and sometimes, that's all it takes to surprise yourself.

Thank you, August and Gayeong, for jumping in with both feet. We loved having you in the room. 🙌

Curious what a meeting is like for yourself? Come as our guest — it's free, there's no pressure, and who knows, you might walk away with an award too.

Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, August 26 come and join us!

✨ Last Wednesday, Speak To Lead Toastmasters Copenhagen came together for an evening of speeches and growth with the theme of World Humanitarian Day.

🎤 Alejandra shared a story on how AI is transforming our jobs, working through a Storytelling project.
🎤 Anurag presented "You Don't Have a Bad Memory," picking an unfamiliar topic on purpose so he could practice adapting to the room in real time.
🎤 Sakaria Ahmed spoke on "Ready Before Opportunity," built around the discipline of writing a speech with a clear, narrow purpose.

🗣️ Edith ran the Table Topics, and Roberto, Shaista, and Raqibul took on evaluations for the evening.

By the end of the evening, the club had voted:
🏆 Best Speaker: Sakaria
🏆 Best Table Topics: Ai-Cheng
🏆 Best Evaluator: Roberto

💡 For those curious about Toastmasters: it's a place to practice public speaking and leadership by giving prepared speeches, thinking on your feet in impromptu Table Topics, and giving each other structured feedback.

Thanks to Vlad for leading as Toastmaster, and to everyone who took on a role this week. 🙌

See you at the next meeting! 👋

“Speak to Lead has strengthened my confidence, communication, and professional network in Copenhagen. Through speeches, feedback, peer learning, and leadership roles, I practise skills that carry into my work meetings, collaboration, and community life. Thanks to Bugra for Table Topics, Karen as Ah-Counter, and Shais for General Evaluation — and to everyone who came out to support the club, including for our successfully held EGM!

🌟 Member Spotlight: Theis Kvist Kristensen 🌟

Theis brings leadership, structure, and strong facilitation to the club. He helps meetings feel clear, purposeful, and well-led. His strength is executive-level communication in practice: guiding a room, structuring a message, and helping people move from ideas to action.

“Toastmasters gives me a focused space to keep sharpening communication and leadership. Even with professional leadership experience, there is always more to learn about guiding a room, structuring a message, and connecting with an audience. Speak to Lead helps me practise these skills in a supportive setting where feedback is direct, useful, and encouraging. It gives me a place to keep refining how I communicate responsibility, direction, and influence.”

🤝 Back Together 🤝

On Wednesday, Speak to Lead Toastmasters held Meeting No. 383, with the theme "Back Together" and Word of the Day "Rekindle".

The evening was opened by our president, Vlad, welcoming everyone back after summer break.

We were happy to welcome two guests. Our Toastmaster of the evening, Mark, guided us through the programme.

The prepared speeches set the tone for the new season: Ulrich delivered "They Asked the Toastmaster to Be the Toastmaster!", and Bugra shared "The Last Time I Cheated". 🎤

After the break, Sakaria led Table Topics, and one of our guests took home the Best Table Topics award — amazing to see. 🏆

The evaluation section rounded out the learning: Shais stepped in as General Evaluator, with Vlad and Amir evaluating the prepared speeches.

Behind the scenes, Ai Cheng kept us sharp as Grammarian, Budi counted our "ums" and "ahs" as Ah-Counter, and Eugene kept us on time as Timekeeper.

Thank you to everyone who took a role, spoke, gave feedback, and helped kick off the new season with such energy. Great to be back together. 🎙️
