I've always loved changing my hair.

Different colours, different styles, different versions of how I express myself at different stages of life.

But while my appearance has changed, the person underneath has remained the same.

What these photos remind me of is something I see every day in my work as a vocal coach: we're all made up of many different sides. We can be confident one day, reflective the next, full of energy one moment and full of questions the next.

Over the years, teaching singing has taught me that no two people learn in exactly the same way. Some students love structure and detail. Others learn best through feeling, experimentation and encouragement.

That's why I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to vocal coaching.

At DARA VOICE COMPANY, one of my favourite parts of teaching is getting to know the person behind the voice and finding the approach that helps them grow, both technically and personally.

Because understanding people is just as important as understanding voices. 🎶

✨ Whether you're one of my current students or someone who's been thinking about taking that first singing lesson, I'd love to know: what helps you feel confident, supported and motivated when learning something new? Share your thoughts below or send me a message!

Why Singing Together Builds Confidence, Connection, and Better Communication

Yesterday, my gospel choir gathered for our first rehearsal after the summer break, and my heart is still full.

We spent 4½ hours together refreshing our vocal technique, learning new songs, and finding our way back into the music. But above all, it was about seeing each other again.

The room was filled with hugs, laughter, warm conversations, and the joy of reconnecting with people who share a love of singing. It felt like a dear reunion and a wonderful reminder of the power of community.

As joyful as it was to be back together, there were some choir family members missing from the room. We missed you, and I've made a little video to send some love your way. ❤️

As we started singing together, I was reminded of something I have experienced throughout my life as a singer:
confidence doesn't always grow when we stand alone. Very often, it grows when we stand alongside others.

In a choir, we listen deeply.
We support one another. We trust each other to hold our part while contributing to something bigger than ourselves.
And somehow, our individual voices become stronger because we are singing together.

It struck me again that the same principle applies in business.
Successful teams, like successful choirs, are built on: Listening, Collaboration, Trust and Shared Purpose - when people feel heard, they contribute more confidently.

When they feel supported, they are more willing to step forward, share ideas, and take up space. When they work together towards a common goal, they often create something far greater than they could alone.

Group singing teaches us a valuable lesson: your voice matters, but so does your ability to connect with others.
That is one of the reasons I am so passionate about helping people discover the power of their voice through DARA VOICE COMPANY.

Whether through 🎤 1:1 singing lessons, 🎶 group singing sessions, or ✨ vocal workshops in my studio, my goal is
to create spaces where people can build confidence, develop their voice, connect with others, and experience the joy
that comes from making music together.

Yesterday was a beautiful reminder that singing is about so much more than music. It's about belonging!

❤️ Have you ever experienced the power of singing, or another shared creative activity, bringing people together in a meaningful way?

Why Feeling Nervous Is Actually a Good Sign

The photo I’m sharing today was taken on my way to a concert. Behind the sunglasses, I had butterflies in my stomach, but I was also genuinely happy and excited. Looking back, those nerves weren’t telling me to stop. They were reminding me that this moment mattered.

Nervousness is often a sign that you care!❤️
It means you’re stepping outside your comfort zone. It means you’re taking a risk. It means what you’re about to do matters to you.

In singing, confidence isn’t built by waiting for the nerves to disappear.
It’s built by singing anyway!
Nervousness is not evidence that you’re not ready.
It’s often evidence that you’re growing.

At DARA VOICE COMPANY, we help people discover how to transform nervous energy into confidence, connection, and authentic expression. 🦾
What is one situation where your nerves actually helped you perform at your best?

August: Getting Back Into Rhythm

August has a reputation for being the month when we're supposed to come back refreshed, motivated, and ready to go.

But let's be honest.

The sun is still shining, people are still on holiday, and finding your way back into routines isn't always as easy as we'd like it to be.

I've felt it myself. Getting back into songwriting, practice, and performance mode hasn't happened overnight.

As a vocal coach, I see the same thing every year. Singers return expecting their voice to feel exactly the same as before the summer break. Instead, the voice feels a little rusty, motivation is low, and confidence needs a gentle reset.

The truth is, momentum doesn't magically appear.

It comes back through warm-ups, practice, consistency, and simply showing up, even on the days when you don't feel like it.

So if you're feeling a little out of tune with your voice this August, give yourself some grace.

Your voice is still there!

Ready to get back on track after the summer break? I'd love to help. Right now, I'm offering a FREE trial lesson, giving you the perfect opportunity to reconnect with your voice, build confidence, and take the next step in your singing journey.

Keeping Your Voice in Shape During Summer & Vacation Time!

Summer is a wonderful time to slow down, travel, spend time with family, and recharge. But if you're a singer, speaker, performer, or someone who relies on their voice professionally, it's also important not to completely step away from your vocal practice.
The good news? Maintaining your voice doesn't require hours of work every day.
During the summer, I encourage my students to think of vocal training like physical fitness: consistency matters more than intensity.

Here are a few simple ways to stay vocal-ready during vacation season:
1. Start your day with 5-10 minutes of gentle vocal warm-ups
2.Stay hydrated (your vocal folds will thank you!)
3. Sing along to your favorite songs while driving or enjoying your summer walks
4. Practice breathing exercises at the beach, in nature, or wherever you find yourself relaxing
5. Set one small vocal goal for the week to keep momentum going

At DARA VOICE COMPANY (www.daravoicecompany.com), summer doesn't mean stopping. I continue offering small workshops and working with a few dedicated students throughout the season. These lighter touchpoints help singers maintain their technique, confidence, and connection to their voice while still enjoying a well-deserved break.

The voice is a lifelong instrument. Even a little practice can make a big difference when it's time to return to rehearsals, performances, presentations, or studio work in the fall.

How do you keep your skills sharp during the summer months?
