We’re excited to welcome back Linda Bloomfield (UK) and Linda Swanson (CA) to Guldagergaard for a unique joint workshop on the chemistry and crafting of ceramic glazes.

Over four days, participants will delve into glaze composition, exploring local and recycled materials. The workshop will focus on clay and slip creation for two days, followed by two days on glaze development, with one or two firings. Participants will test their glazes, receiving feedback to refine their understanding.

Linda Bloomfield, an accomplished potter, designer, and author, specializes in porcelain and has over 20 years of experience in ceramics. Known for her expertise in glazes, she shares her knowledge through books, articles, and courses.

Linda Swanson’s work explores the transformative properties of ceramic materials. An award-winning artist, she has exhibited internationally, with recent shows in Paris, Bucharest, and Chicago. Swanson also teaches ceramics at Concordia University, Montreal.

Course Fee: 4950 DKK

Meals and Drinks:
Breakfast(The first day) and lunch(All days) is included. Participants are otherwise responsible for providing their own meals. You are welcome to use the communal kitchen in the manor house. During the workshop, we will also provide coffee and tea.

Accommodation during the Workshop:
Unfortunately, it is not possible to stay at Guldagergaard. However, we refer you to Hotel Postgården or Kaptajnhuset.

Add on: Short-term Residency Option
Guldagergaard offers workshop participants the option to book a one or two-week residency before the workshop for an additional fee of 2500 DKK. This price includes access to studio facilities and accommodation for one week. It does not cover additional firings and materials.

Please note: Participants are expected to bring their own ventilated respirator mask.

OPEN CALL

Med dette Open Call inviterer vi danske keramikere til at søge legat-ophold af en måneds varighed. Guldagergaard udbyder fremover hvert år otte legatophold fordelt på to sæsoner: Første halvår og andet halvår. Da 2025 er første gang legatet udbydes kan der i 2025 søges frit for ophold resten af dette år.
Fremover vil man kunne søge dette legat to gange årligt:

I juli indkalder Guldagergaard til ansøgninger for første halvår i kommende år (2026).
I januar 2026 bliver der indkaldt til ansøgninger om ophold for andet halvår (2026).

Legatet omfatter
– Egen værkstedsplads
– Adgang til alle keramikrelaterede faciliteter og en vidensbank på Guldagergaard
– Indkvartering i eget værelse i den smukke gamle hovedbygning
– Keramikfagligt personale klar til at hjælpe, guide og vejlede
– Adgang til arkiver og databaser
– Materiale- og fyringsbudget på 12.500 kr. pr. legatmodtager under opholdet

Opholdsperioder – AIR 2025
Du kan ansøge om ophold i alle de perioder, du ønsker, dog senest i 2025 med slutdato midt i december.

Anden runde, 3 legater: 15. juli
Ansøgere kan forvente svar fra Guldagergaard senest henholdsvis 1. juni og 1. august.

Ansøgningskrav
Dette er et opholdslegat, der gives til danske keramikere. For at komme i betragtning skal ansøgere opfylde følgende kriterier på ansøgningstidspunktet:
– Du skal have en klar projektformulering
– Du skal have relevant erfaring inden for felterne keramik, keramisk håndværk og/eller keramisk kunst.

Open Call: Production Potter at Guldagergaard
Guldagergaard is seeking a skilled and dedicated production potter to join our team. This role focuses on producing our functional ware while ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and efficiency in the studio.
The production potter will be responsible for all aspects of the process, including throwing, trimming, glazing, firing, and recycling clay, as well as troubleshooting any issues related to glaze, clay, and firing. They will oversee the programming and management of electric kilns, ensuring proper loading and unloading, and contribute to maintaining and improving the quality and consistency of production.
In addition to hands-on production work, the role includes keeping track of production progress and stock levels to ensure smooth workflow and efficiency. The production potter will also be responsible for the proper maintenance of the workspace, studio equipment, and production tools. They will work closely with and report to the Studio Manager, providing updates and ensuring seamless coordination within the studio.
We are looking for a hardworking, self-motivated, and detail-oriented potter with strong technical skills and the ability to take initiative. The ideal candidate can work independently while also contributing to a dynamic, team-oriented environment. A passion for ceramics and a drive to continuously improve production processes are essential.
This position requires a candidate who is willing and comfortable working and living in an international environment alongside people from different cultural backgrounds.

GULDAGERGAARD Studio Manager

Guldagergaard is an international ceramic research center with “artist-in-residence” as its focus, alongside talent development and the dissemination of ceramics.
Our goal is to provide high-quality facilities and knowledge about ceramics, including its production methods and techniques..
Since the studio fire in December 2023, we are in the midst of an exciting period of rebuilding and expanding our facilities significantly. We call it Guldagergaard 3.0, as we push forward our ceramic ambitions, and we are seeking a Studio Manager to be part of our team during this transformative phase.
Guldagergaard welcomes applicants of all nationalities and genders for this position.
The Studio Manager will report to the director, Mette Blum Marcher, and work closely with her. We are looking for a motivated and adaptable candidate who thrives in an international environment, balancing both administrative and technical responsibilities while working independently.
As Studio Manager, you will oversee the daily operations of the Guldagergaard studio, ensuring a dynamic and well-functioning space for Danish and international artists in residence. You should be highly flexible, able to handle multiple responsibilities at once, and willing to continuously improve and develop the studio facilities and workflows.
We seek an outgoing and proactive leader who is comfortable working with people from different cultural backgrounds and has previous management experience. The Studio Manager will monitor studio operations and oversee staff, including international assistants and interns, aligning their work with ongoing projects and the evolving needs of the center.
We offer a full-time position in an international environment, located in a small harbour town in Denmark.

Ganske få pladser tilbage på denne spændende dekorerings-workskop med Sergei Isupov.

UDFORSKNING AF SKULPTUREN OG DEN DEKOREREDE OVERFLADE
To-dages workshop med den internationalt anerkendte keramiker Sergei Isupov, hvor du udforsker skulpturen og den dekorerede overflade – fra idéudvikling til formgivning.

Den tredimensionelle skulptur tjener som et lærred for fortællende maleri, og workshoppen kombinerer demonstrationer med praktisk studietid og én-til-én instruktion. Isupov vil inkludere pladeteknik, underglasurmaling og påføring af glasur.

Workshoppen foregår begge dage fra klokken 10 til 17.

SERGEI ISUPOV: EXPLORING THE SCULPTED FIGURE AND THE PAINTED SURFACE
4-5 JULY 2024

Join internationally acclaimed sculptor Sergei Isupov for a two day workshop exploring the sculpted figure in clay and the painted surface – from the development of ideas to the materialization of form.

The workshop combines demonstrations with hands-on active studio time and one-on-one instruction. Isupov will lead students through demonstrations and include techniques of slab construction, underglaze painting, and glaze application as the three-dimensional sculpture serves as a canvas for narrative painting.

The workshop runs from 10 am to 5 pm both days.

I går nedbrændte værkstedsbygningen på Guldagergaard. I dag starter vi på genopbygningen af Guldagergaards værksted.

Yesterday the Guldagergaard studio building burned down. Today we start rebuilding the studio.
