ScanCeram

ScanCeram Scandinavian Ceramic Conference is an annual, international event focused on ceramic arts professionalism, hosted each year in Tolne, Denmark.

The Scandinavian Ceramics Conference is an annual, international event focused on ceramic arts professionalism, hosted each September in Hjørring, Denmark. The conference features demonstrations, professional presentations, interactive workshops, international exhibitions, and a keynote lecture. For the first two years of it's existence, the conference was known as Creabiz Conference Ceramic 2010-

2011, and was generously supported by the Creabiz Vendsyssel Program to develop a creative arts conference model. Based on the successful platform of these two events, Scanceram is independently organized and funded from 2012. The goal of the conference is to provide an annual Scandinavian event where ceramic artists, collectors, curators, suppliers, instructors, and particularly students from all over the world can gather to meet, exchange, learn, communicate, and connect with each other. It's also a really fun time, and a great way for people not so familiar with ceramics to learn a lot about the breadth and depth of ceramic arts in a short time. If you've got an idea of something that you'd like to include on the program, or for more information on how you can support Scanceram, please contact organizer Gregory Hamilton Miller at +4540475320 or via email at [email protected]

We've made a little website about ScanCeram2024, which will be held August 26th to 29th, later this summer. We've invited guest presenters from all over, including Denmark, Sweden, Germany, the USA, Japan, and Korea. There are workshops, presentations, panel discussions, woodkiln loadings and firings, and a lot of great discussions about the how and why of being a ceramic artist. There is a focus on making and firing, and also on the practical aspects like networks, exhibition organization, online and other marketing, ways to make a successful butique and sales portal, independently or collectively.
The conference is set here in Naturpark Tolne, at the lovely Tolne Skovpavillon. We've reserved Kongebakken, and you can stay there 500m from the conference for a very reasonable rate. As always, there are great homemade meals, and this year our annual benefit auction which helps pay for the travel expenses of the presenters.
If you'd like to sign up, scroll down the page, and you can click on the link to the shop that makes sense for you to participate. Please note that there is also a special category for students, and a limited number of positions for volunteering at the conference.
Feel free to call or message Gregory Hamilton Miller (+45 40475320) if you have questions, comments, or want to pitch in in some other way!
