What an incredible day at Sønderborg International School!

Today, we celebrated our amazing Year 9 students with a special morning assembly attended by the whole school community and parents – all to recognize an outstanding achievement.

On 9 June in Copenhagen, our Year 9 rowing team became Danish School Olympics champions, bringing home gold after an unforgettable performance.

After three years of training, qualifying through the regional competition, and entering the finals as the underdogs, our students delivered when it mattered most and rowed their way to victory.

We could not be prouder of all 17 students who represented our school with determination, teamwork, and resilience.

Congratulations, Year 9 – you made school history!🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

From singing and dancing to impressive talents of all kinds, it was wonderful to see our students shine and support one another.

At SIS, we prioritize immersive, hands-on learning, and we take every opportunity to engage with the wider community🌿

Right before the Easter break, Y7, Y8 and Y9 gave it everything they had at the School Olympics rowing competition at Sydjysk Sparekasse Skansen 💪

Every class delivered an outstanding team performance, breaking their own all-time best 4000 m machine times. A clear example of what can be achieved through teamwork, determination, and supporting one another.

The results speak for themselves:
🥉 Two 3rd places
🥈 One 2nd place for Y9 – securing direct qualification for the finals in Copenhagen this June!

As an added bonus, they also won a class prize: a fun day out bowling, sponsored by Funbowling Sønderborg 🎳

Most importantly, every single student contributed. This wasn’t about individuals – it was about collective effort, resilience, and showing up for the team.

All the student can be really proud of themselves. And they’ve certainly given parents and the whole community every reason to feel the same 👏
