Our ‘Cities, Culture and Politics’ course visited Urban 13 for a talk by Bettina Werner, co-founder of COurban design collective, who spoke about public participation and the importance of addressing exclusion, privilege and bias in planning. That was with particular reference to COurban’s projects in Nørrebro and Nordvest based on an intersectional feminist approach, including one that worked with young women and girls about how to make the public space beneath Bispeengbuen, Copenhagen’s elevated highway, more inclusive and inviting for all. Another has been focusing on loneliness and how research can inform planning initiatives to address experiences of isolation.
