Young Horses Championship 2026- Gracelight
I got unfortunately no pictures nor video from our rides at Stutteri Ask.
But we got some good days with lots of learnings for both me and Grace!
She managed to come back to reality after her Grand Prix Trials on Thursday 😂🤪 and delivered some very nice, clear and solid ride on Friday at the B Finals.
It is such a pleasure to work with Grace, she is such a fun and has so much drive in her! I am really looking forward some crazy promising future in her!
To the Championship itself, it was a very big learning for me to participate at the 4 yo championship.
Not so positive and bit disappointing.
I learned, that just like in dressage, the rider’s name, social status or popularity scores higher than the quality of the horse.
I am a realistic person and I can myself judge that in regards of style/technique, Grace was not the 9 point horse like the winners. But that doesn’t matter, some horse will grow into it, some horses never develop the “ for the eye perfect style” but still make winning horses. 🐎 so that one I already know.
What I cannot close my eyes from was clearly seeing horses who had worse galop, worse style, worse scope and basically were “ weaker in their perfection” compared to Grace.
And yet they scored much higher, made it to finals and even got placed.
The difference? I think it’s hard to say but those horses were bred by the “correct” breeders, from the “correct” lines and ridden by the “correct” people.
I cannot get my head around what else the difference was. I couldn’t see any.
Please if anyone can explain to me this “objective” scoring system, I am all ears.
Because besides the fact that Grace is half dressage bred by some small girl called Veronika and even ridden by her, I can clearly not see where else the difference was. I keep wondering what would happen if the rider and breeder of Grace would carry some famous “approved” name, whether Grace’s scores would suddenly be different.
We will never find out, but experiences like this make me wiser and make me really question what is the point of participating at shows like this if you anyway don’t stand any chance before you even show your horse out in the ring.
But, we had a great time and enjoyed some learning together 😍❤️
