The Guadeloupe teachers have now judged all 66 photos submitted to the PVAY Photo Competition

The Guadeloupe submissions will be

Best 3 Photos - Sophie Holme (photos 1,2&3)
Best photo - joint top scorers Johanna Adler Stampe (photos 4) & Selma Spiegelhauer (photo 5)

Your photos will be sent in as the Guadaloupian Culture Trip submission to the PVAY Photo Competition where all culture trips are included with one submission each

Yesterday, whilst we were in Cayenne airport in French Guyana, travelling home we invited everyone on the Guadeloupe Culture Trip to submit their best 3-5 photos covering their Culture Subject trip highlighting one or more of the following categories: Culture Meeting / Action / UN Sustainable Goals / Togetherness.

A total of 66 photos were submitted and can be viewed below.

These photos where thereafter judged by the Guadeloupe teachers, on the bus from Paris to Ranum, to decide which ones will be entered in the Ranum Efterskole College PVAY Photo competition for all Culture Trips (traditionally held in connection with Profile and Culture trips)

The chosen photos and photographers will be announced soon on a separate post.

Now we’re officially heading back to Denmark 🇩🇰

After a smooth flight, we landed at Paris at 7 AM and made it through the airport without any issues – and no missing luggage this time! Wuhu! 😄

We were welcomed with refreshments from Ranum, which we enjoyed before leaving the airport.

Now we’re making our way up through Europe, and we’ll see you in Denmark in just a few hours ✈️

From the bus, it’s all quiet… the students are tired and catching up on some well-deserved sleep 😴

Our trip has come to an end ✈️
The experiences have been many – and truly unforgettable! Even though we didn’t get to experience the Balinese culture as planned, the students stayed positive and embraced every change and new adventure with big smiles – impressive!

Today has already been a long one, starting at 4 AM as we headed to the airport.

Things don’t always move as fast in Guadeloupe as they do in Denmark, so Olav – being the last one – almost had to run to catch the plane… but we all made it! 😄

We’ve now spent 7 hours waiting at Cayenne Airport and are about to board our flight to Paris ✈️

A central part of the cultural trip is meeting locals, which is why we had invited none other than Happy Wappy to join our Creole evening.

He performed a bottle dance, balancing a bottle on his head with impressive control. He also spoke about his paintings and sang a few songs, giving a vivid insight into the culture.

…How representative he was of the wider local population may still be up for debate – but one thing is certain: it was a show the students (and teachers) won’t forget anytime soon! 😎

Tuesday + Wednesday 🌴
The past few days have flown by, and our final day in Guadeloupe is coming to an end ✈️

We visited a local school through Erasmus+, where our students quickly connected with the local students their own age. The tour was short – but the experience continued with a shared hike and a lovely trip to the beach 🌊

The students also went on different themed tours around the city – some on a photo safari 📸, while others joined a fruit tour where they tasted local delicacies 🍍

On our last day, the students chose the activities themselves: surfing, diving, and a trip to Pointe-à-Pitre. One group went on a culinary tour around Basse-Terre, visiting a rum distillery and a cocoa plantation – finishing the day with a swim at a waterfall 💦

After riding the waves, the surf group also made a difference: a total of 55 kg of trash was collected from the beach! It was sorted, and the students learned about recycling and microplastics – and how long plastic actually remains in nature ♻️

The evening ended with a celebration of Else’s 17th birthday 🎂

Now it’s time for some sleep – the alarm goes off at 4:00 AM as we head to the airport…
