Weapons Combat Systems Grading Seminar

This weekend Haderslev Weapons Combat System had a visit from Master Per Arvastson (5th Master), Lund Sweden.

It was our yearly grading seminar.

We started with the fundamentals of double stick concepts before moving into focused grading training across sticks, knives, machetes and longer weapons.
A demanding and rewarding weekend — sharp technique, great energy and real progress on the floor.

The 3 hours of training just flew away.
Everyone put in a huge effort and trained hard — great work!

Thanks to Master Per, for a well organized and inspiring seminar.

And of cause we had some student who passed their grade.

WEAPONS COMBAT SYSTEMS
GM Lars Lind's celebration of his 50(!) years of martial arts was held yesterday. This was also a good opportunity for some big news!

GM Lars Lind was awarded 11th Master Level by some of the most senior instructors in the system. Unlike some other systems, this is not a retirement grade. In fact, the new level was awarded in recognition of his unusually active activities within WCS, teaching numerous seminars internationally and nationally while also running regular training sessions in Copenhagen. The new level comes with a new shirt (white with gold) that we hope he will put to good use as he pleases!

Master Rolf Warming was awarded his 8th Master Level, thus also attaining the rank of Grandmaster and right to wear yellow.

Master Erik Olesen was awarded his 6th Master Level for all his hard work nationally and internationally. We want to particularly highlight his capacity to teach the system across martial arts disciplines and for his work involved in running the system together with other senior level instructors. As always, this has really been phenomenal work.

Head Instructor Per Arvastson has now attained the rank of Master after receiving his 5th Master Level. This grade, long overdue, is particularly for his work in training so many extremely component and high level instructors in Lund. This has always, without failure, been of the highest quality - this certainly says something about the instructor! For this new level, Master Per has gone through a longer process involving a critical run-through of the system to which he has also contributed. Per's own abilities are beyond questions and often (willingly) put to the test against high level instructors, not least during the seminar that was held the same day. Master Per's work throughout the decades have been phenomenal and will continue for many years to come, we're sure!

Instructor Sonny Karlsson was awarded his technician, thus finishing his specialization in double weapons. This grade comes after numerous training seminars and tests - a lot of hard work has been put into this grade. And it shows! Sonny's final test, involving stress-tests with GM Rolf, Master Erik and Master Per, during the seminar held that same day, were passed with flying colours.

Onwards and upwards!

WEAPONS COMBAT ESCRIMA
Impressions from yesterday's seminar with Master Rolf and Master Erik in Copenhagen (Wing Tsun København). This seminar consisted of two sessions covering power deliver and anti-knife as well as effective movement and timing.

The seminar was well-visited, with participants coming Copenhagen as well Gothenburg, Lund, Haderslev, and Solrød.

The participants worked hard throughout both both intensive sessions and reflected critically about weapon situations. A sincere "well-done!" to all those who participated!

Two students were also tested for grades during the seminar. Big congratulations to Patrick (2nd SG) and Lana (8th SG), who passed with flying colours!

Weapons Combat Systems Sommercamp 2026

This weekend we had a very successful Weapons Combat Systems Sommercamp in Lund, Sweden – with intensive training both Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday kicked off with GM Lars taking the participants through the foundational concepts and ideas behind the system – tracing the origins from the two-handed sword all the way to today’s interpretation of armed combat. The five concepts of WCS were explored through a variety of weapons, building a deeper understanding of the underlying principles.

Master Erik supported by Head Instructor Per, then guided the group through the details of the syllabus with precision and depth.

Sunday we shifted focus to longer weapons, Bart Cham Dao and other specialized areas – pushing technical skills and deepening our understanding of how the WCS principles apply across different weapons.

The level of dedication and intensity from every participant both days was truly impressive. Training together across organizations and schools is what builds real community – and this camp delivered exactly that.

We had participants from Lund, Malmø, Gothenburg, Copenhagen and Haderslev.

The camp also included gradings.

And the following passed their grades:
Jim Joelsson - 1.+2. Student level
Rigo Juul - 2. Student level
Mikkel Jensen - 2. Student level
Marcus Nordlund - 8. Student level
Michael Høtoft - 11. Student level

We also had some high grades:
Harry Persson - 1. Technician
Kalle Persson - 1. Technician
John Persson - 1. Technician
Sune Klink Madsbøll - 1. Technician

A big congratulations to all of you 👏👏👏
The dedication and effort you all put into this was truly something special.

A huge thank you to all instructors and every participant who made the journey to Lund.

We’ll see you at the next one 😊👍

This weekend Ving Tsun/DVTF - Weapons Combat Systems Haderslev
had the pleasure of hosting GM Lars Lind.

The theme of the seminar was understanding and cohesion within the system’s concepts and principles – with a special focus on the key elements that set Weapons Combat Systems apart from other weapon systems.

GM Lars guided the participants on an inspiring journey through the system’s foundation, rooted in edged weapons. A central principle explored in depth was the idea of always attacking the incoming attack – taking initiative in every situation.

We worked with sticks, machetes, two-handed swords, knives, palm sticks, staffs, and unarmed combat – all to build a deeper understanding of the concepts through application across different weapons and contexts.

There was also a strong focus on the importance of angles and positioning, as well as how to generate power through our stance and body mechanics. Small adjustments with a big impact.

Thanks to all participants for their engagement – and a big thank you to GM Lars for another insightful and inspiring seminar.

This year marks GM Lars’ 50-year anniversary. In recognition of this milestone - and especially his more than 25 years of continuous support, guidance and dedication to the Haderslev team— he was presented with a gift from our club
