40 years of dance, music and community ❤️
For 40 years, the three musicians of Ruder Es have played for the dancing that welcomes each new group of students to the boarding school.
This year, once again, nearly 200 young people have danced their way into the community to the music of Ruder Es – a wonderful tradition that has been passed on from one generation of students to the next.
There is something truly special about dancing together. It brings people together across cultures, languages and backgrounds. When the music starts and we take each other by the hand, differences seem to fade and a sense of belonging begins to grow.
It is wonderful to be part of. ❤️
And perhaps the most beautiful part of the tradition is that Ruder Es return at the end of the school year. They play once again – this time for the graduating students and their parents.
And so the circle is complete:
You dance your way into the community – and when the time comes, you dance together as you say goodbye.

I 40 år har de tre spillemænd i Ruder Es spillet op til dans, når et nyt hold unge begynder på kostskolen.
Også i år har skolens næsten 200 unge danset sig ind i fællesskabet til tonerne fra Ruder Es – en fantastisk tradition, som er blevet givet videre fra generation til generation.
For der er noget helt særligt ved at danse sammen. Dansen samler os på tværs af kultur, sprog og baggrund. Når musikken spiller, og vi tager hinanden i hånden, bliver forskellene mindre, og følelsen af fællesskab vokser.
Det er fantastisk at være en del af. ❤️
Og måske er det smukkeste ved traditionen, at Ruder Es vender tilbage, når skoleåret slutter. Her spiller de igen – denne gang for årets studenter og deres forældre.
På den måde bliver ringen sluttet:
Man danser sig ind i fællesskabet – og når tiden kommer, danser man sammen, mens man tager afsked.
