This Wednesday had the biggest constitutional council meeting in the history of the council!

We are thrilled to welcome several new constituted members as well as a few non-constituted members. In short, we more than doubled the size of the council!
This huge milestone can be attributed to the huge work we have put into our community.

A few highlights driving this growth:
- Making exciting and curated events for DTU Compute master's students
- Launching several new communication channels, including the new DTU Compute community Discord server with 170+ student members

We have several exciting initiatives underway, so stay tuned!

Last week we visited the IBM offices in Copenhagen and had a blast of a day with a mixture of business insights and state of the art research presentations! 🚀

Topics included:
🔹 IBMs history, hybrid cloud strategy and open source approaches
🔹 State of the art Quantum computing research driving towards "Quantum Advantage"
🔹 Asset management and extending the lifetime of concrete structures with Sund & Bælt using IBM Maximo
🔹 AI, data science and biomechanics in sports entertainment with Agassi

Individual presentations were followed by engaging Q&A sessions with great questions by the attending students from DTU Compute.

A huge thank you to Tue Marker who made this possible!

Insightful and humorous talk on Functional Programming!

Yesterday Torben Hoffmann gave a lecture about practical uses of Functional Programming in industry and how FP concepts shape real systems.

One of the big take aways was that no tool is right for every problem, so by learning different programming languages make you empowers you to better tackle different problems. This is because language is the way we process the world, so if we do not have it harder to talk and reason about a problem.

During the break, we had the chance to continue the discussion over coffee, and Torben shared geeky stickers with everyone! When asked about AI usage in educational setting, the advice given was "Bang your head against a problem, but stop before you blead.", intended as feel free to use AI but make sure you still use your thinking.

Thank you to Torben Hoffmann and to all participants whose input and questions helped make the discussion both lively and valuable.

The Turing Council decided to create a Discord server to bring together DTU Compute students in one place.

Join now:
https://discord.gg/TZ7FPPd6Yj

This server supports the following masters programmes: Mathematical Modelling and Computation, Computer Science and Engineering, Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Systems.

It’s the perfect space to:
- Talk with other students
- Discuss courses, professors, and specializations
- Share resources and experiences
- Talk about Erasmus, networking, gaming, and more…

Once inside, just read the rules and react with ✅ to access the full server. After that you can start selecting your programme, specializations and courses.
Feel free to share this with other students and groups :)
