Reception at DTU Space, celebrating the completion of the ASIM instruments! Now the instruments will be shipped to Italy for system-integration, after which it goes to ESA, then NASA and finally SpaceX - before (hopefully 7-9-13) being launched to the ISS in August 2017.

A big congratulation to the whole department and the team!! (Y)

A brief summary:
"The Atmosphere-Space Interactions Monitor (ASIM) will study the Earth's atmosphere as one system, from the surface of the Earth to the edge of space. The atmosphere is the thin layer that covers the planet's crust, and protects life as we journey through space.
ASIM will observe extreme thunderstorms, water v***r, clouds, aerosols and their interplay in the atmosphere.
DTU Space provides the scientific management for this project and is responsible for delivering a package of instruments (2 cameras, 3 photometers and one X- and gamma-ray detector) which will be mounted on the Columbus module of the International Space Station. ASIM consists of a number of cameras, specially designed for the International Space Station, that will observe the Earth's atmosphere. ASIM will give new insights into atmospheric processes that will improve climate models."

To all ESPE-students:

Remember that you are invited to join Space Day 2015!

Space Day's Match Making program gives you the opportunity to meet representatives from the danish high-technological companies within the space industry, and explore the possibilities for new and exciting projects in collaboration with said companies!

Space Day 2015 is initiated with speeches from prominent figures within the danish space industry and followed up by a Match Making program in the afternoon!

In my own experience, this event is underrated and underappreciated, and I would advice all ESPE-students to do everything they can to be able to participate. It is a major career- and inspiration-boost and can give you a significant insight in what path you wish to pursue later on!

Time: Friday, 11th of September 2015, starting at 10:30, ending at approx. 15:00 (no later than 17:00)
Location: Condeferation of Danish Industry on Rådhuspladsen, Copenhagen.

Link to official invitation:

REMEMBER TO SIGN UP NO LATER THAN 31 July.
(Participation is free)

Are you interested in drones and the possibilities of such technology?

Then you have the opportunity to meet several french and danish drone-researchers at DTU Skylab on friday the 27th of February.

In week 9, DTU Space DroneCenter is hosting an interdisciplinary drone-workshop on autonomi, swarming and navigation together with several french researchers, as well as other DTU departments.

In that regard, all students are invited to an open and casual session with the workshop participants!

Maybe you are working on a project with drones yourself? Maybe you have an exciting idea or thought on the technology, or a problem that you wish to receive input and feedback on? Perhaps you have a drone you want to show off, or you just want an interesting casual chat with the researchers and fellow students.

The only thing YOU should do is to meet up and either talk or listen - then we will supply the scientists and plenty of coffee :)

When: Friday the 27th of February 2015, 1:15 PM to 2:15 PM (13.15-14.15)

Where: DTU Skylab, Diplomvej, bygning 373 s, 1. sal (mødelokalet Apollo), 2800 Kgs. Lyngby
