FURUNO Maritime Training Manager Carsten is on the ground at the Wärtsilä Simulation User Conference in Svendborg today. He’s there to explore the latest in simulation, digital navigation, and future training methods. Because every now and then, the best thing a teacher can do is become a student again.

Furuno Maritime Training has successfully completed a recent audit by the Danish Maritime Authority (Søfartsstyrelsen), with strong results across all evaluated areas. The audit confirms that our courses meet the regulatory and STCW requirements designed to protect lives, vessels, and the marine environment.
Independent oversight like this is essential, not just for compliance, but for raising standards across the industry. Every audit passed is another step toward our mission: making life at sea safer through high‑quality maritime training.

Recently, we welcomed 21 deep-sea and workboat crew members to our Gothenburg office for a focused session on the technologies supporting safer, smarter operations at sea in 2026.
Furuno Training Department Manager Carsten presented our new computer-based training courses, designed to replicate the structure and interactivity of online training in a fully offline format, ensuring consistent, accessible learning in environments where connectivity can’t be relied upon.
The visit also included a tour of the workshop, a shared lunch, and time to exchange experiences across crews and roles.

This week our maritime training classroom in Copenhagen is welcoming the crew of an impressive new German superyacht. They have travelled here to build the ECDIS and TimeZero knowledge they will rely on when the vessel begins its first journey.
A vessel of such calibre deserves equipment and training that match its standards. With top‑tier Furuno maritime electronics on board and a well‑prepared crew to operate them, this yacht is set for a confident and successful start to the season.

𝟓𝟎𝟎 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐄𝐂𝐃𝐈𝐒 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐛𝐨𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭!
Some news worth sharing: 500 officers in a single newbuilding project will soon complete their ECDIS training through FMT’s online platform. One project, five hundred crew members stepping onboard with the same foundation from day one.

This order grew out of our workshop with Furuno France where the focus was simple: give crews training that fits real work at sea, not just classroom theory.
