Stenhus Gymnasium is one of just 17 schools in Denmark that offers the Pre-IB and the highly recognized IB Diploma Programme. The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme is an alternative to the Danish "gymnasium" (STX, HHX, HTX etc) and is designed to suit the needs of Danish and non-Danish students with an international outlook. The Diploma gives access to universities all over the world,

including all further education programmes in Denmark, and it is possible for students to transfer between IB Schools all around the world. The Pre-IB programme is a one-year course designed to give access to the two-year IB Diploma Programme for Danish and non-Danish students alike. We began offering the Pre-IB Programme in August 2016 and we started running the IB Diploma Programme in August 2017.

We are The IB Theatre. Our play is called the “Lonely House” is performed at 24th of January: at 14:00 and at 18:30.
We would like to invite you to see our play on Friday, week 4th in F7.
The entrance is free, but donations are welcome to our partner organisation, Berns Vilkär, who help with teenagers’ mental health.

The MUN club at Stenhus. The MUN club is an opportunity presented to students each year, in which students are given the opportunity to debate and interact with issues of global relevance from the perspective of different countries and cultures. It is a student run club in which participants are given opportunities to attend conferences across Denmark, and this year for the first time the club held its own event at the school on November 15th 2024, in which members argued about the topic of Nuclear Proliferation coming to a resolution by the end. The event was a big success and the leaders Camille and Hannah from 3i were proud of the results.

In december the 18th we had the opportunity to bring together some of the students to compete in a volleyball tournament.

At the beginning of the project, we have introduced Tommaso Mazzilis. Coming from Italy, he is the physical coach of the Liga basketball team Holbæk-Stenhus. He has used a routine to warm up the students to prevent any injuries.

The tournament was a great experience full of competitiveness and fun, but also helped the students socialize and connect with eachother.

On December 4th, we had the privilege of organizing IB Culture Day, bringing together students, teachers, and guests to celebrate the richness of global cultures.🥳

The event was a vibrant showcase of traditions, food, and stories that highlighted the unique identities within our community. Starting from presentations made by our students to the presentation of the Danish Culture Institute representative Adel Storgaard about the organisation and cultural exchange and engaging activities such as Kahoot and competitions , it was a day filled with learning, laughter, and connection.❤️

We’re grateful to everyone who contributed to making this day special and to all who participated with such enthusiasm. Together, we celebrated not only our differences but also the shared values that unite us. And personally we learned a lot about the incredible diversity within our community and the importance of embracing and respecting different cultures. From unique traditions to inspiring stories, IB Culture Day reminded us how much we can learn from one another.🫶🏻🌏

3i study trip to Berlin. Day 4.

Another hot day in Berlin. Fortunately, we could walk in the shade under the canopies of the trees along the river Spree and in the Tiergarten park on our way to our destination: the Berlin zoo.

Not only is the zoo in Berlin the oldest and most frequently visited zoo in the country, it is also home to the largest variety of species of any zoo in the world – including the only giant pandas in Germany.

Our students were assigned specific animals to study and they discussed reasons for having a zoo including conservation of biodiversity, education, entertainment and politics.

After some fantastic hours in the beautiful zoo, it was leisure time. Most of us chose to spend some more time in the zoo, some went to the open-air swimming pool, some went thrift shopping, and some visited more sights in the city.

All in all, it was a splendid day with lovely students!

What is the best way to spend the hottest September day in 77 years? Playing padel outside in the blazing sun obviously. Our Pre-IB students showed moves worthy of Holger Rune and Caroline Wozniacki and their efforts were rewarded with ice cream. A great way to end another Pre-IB school day at Stenhus Gymnasium!

Berlin Study Trip 2024 – Day 3

A hum of voices filled a tram in Berlin early Wednesday morning. First stop was Bernauer Strasse, where the dramas of the Cold War unfolded. This is where the ironic photo was taken, when a border guard who was only 18 years old burst from East into West Berlin in 1961. At the time, it was clear that the border, which became the Berlin Wall, now separated people, life and opportunities in the German metropolis.

Today’s tour continued around Berlin to the memorials for the victims of Na**sm - all the while in a reflection on how we remember the past. The day trip ended at the Jewish Museum, where the architectural expressions of both the Holocaust and exile gave rise to great emotion, thoughtfulness, and long whispered conversations between the students and between teachers and students. After this journey into the past, Thursday awaits - a day which will focus on green Berlin, nature in a big city, and a visit to the Zoological Gardens.
