Del
VCIC is a competition in which MBA students play the role of Venture Capitalists, entrepreneurs pitc You might also win “Startup of the Year” for the region.
ABOUT VCIC:
The Venture Capital Investment Competition began in the middle of the technology bubble in 1998 as an educational event for MBAs and Master students to learn about venture funding. Now in its 19th year, VCIC is the world’s largest venture capital competition with over 70 universities competing. In 2016, VCIC included 70 events in three continents, and served 1,000 students, 150 ventur
e capitalists and 100 entrepreneurs. VCIC has evolved into a marketplace for entrepreneurs seeking investors and a training ground for future venture capitalists. More than 25% of the start-ups who present at VCIC go on to raise venture funding. THE COMPETITION:
At the core of the event is a creative turn of the tables: unlike business plan competitions in which students pitch their own ideas to investors, at VCIC the students are the investors, and real entrepreneurs pitch to them
The program is similar to a network of mini-venture fairs where about a quarter of the entrepreneurs go on to raise venture funding. The winner of VCIC Denmark gets the change to compete in the Regional Final in Cranfield (UK) for a spot in the Global Final at the UNC-Chapel Hill (USA)
MBA Students:
Students play the role of VCs who have around $100MM to invest in one of the startups presenting. They’ll be assessing the investment opportunities and pitching an investment strategy to the VC judges. Entrepreneurs:
Entrepreneurs have the opportunity to spend a full day with our VC judges with the bonus of great feedback from great MBA students, many of whom represent student-run venture funds. Venture Capitalists:
Our judges are venture capitalists, who come to VCIC for the opportunity to reconnect with their alma maters, network with other VCs and get a peek at some early stage startups as well as bright students.
