Shaping Future Leaders – What skills matter as you grow as a leader?

At a recent CBS EMBA and FLA event, Shaping Future Leaders, senior leaders and career experts shared practical insights into what it takes to move from early leadership roles into more experienced leadership.

The panel - featuring leaders from Korn Ferry, Winsløv Advokatpartnerselskab, PROARK, and CBS - highlighted that leadership at the next level is less about individual performance and more about enabling others and navigating complexity.

Key reflections from the discussion:

✔️ Lead through others: your impact is defined by your team’s success
✔️ Collaborate across the organisation: influence and alignment are key
✔️ Be clear on your leadership identity: know what you stand for
✔️ Develop people, not just results: strong leaders build future leaders

A recurring theme was that leadership becomes more complex - and more rewarding - when you step into roles where you no longer have all the answers, but are responsible for setting direction and enabling others to succeed. From a specialist role in Mexico to an international career in Copenhagen, The Copenhagen MBA took Tamara Prado’s career to the next level.

While building a successful career in marketing in Mexico City, Tamara knew she wanted to grow professionally and explore opportunities overseas. She chose the CBS Full‑Time MBA because she “trusted that this was the right programme.”

Keen to move beyond just a marketing perspective, the MBA gave her insights into areas such as accounting, finance, and operations, enabling her to take part in broader business discussions and connect the dots across disciplines. A standout element of the programme was the development of her leadership capabilities.

Living, studying, and working in Denmark as part of her MBA internship helped Tamara settle in and position herself for a long‑term career in the country.
