Have you ever wondered how information gets onto the web and how you can utilize it for research purposes? Then this is an opportunity that you don't want to miss!

BUILD lab is organizing a two workshops with the purpose of uncovering the "old secrets" of the web.

In part 1, We will see how you can scope out your research, understand and interpret web infrastructure, and define the process that would acquire relevant data.

In part 2, We will carefully examine of how the process of fetching web page, selecting data, parsing data, storing data, repeat can be automated to its full extent by developing a script using Python and automating it using Bash.

If you participate in both workshops, we will provide you with a certificate of attendance, which allows you to have your developed script running here at the BUILD lab. Could be great if you would need some data from the internet for your thesis over the summer, wouldn't you agree?

We hope to see you there 😁

You might have heard about GitHub or even tried using it.

BUILD lab is organizing a workshop that will "unblackbox" GitHub by explaining what it is and how it can be useful for your studies & career. Everybody is welcome regardless of your study program!

In the first hour, we will go through the differences between Git and GitHub as well as the motivation of using it. In the second hour, we will go through a common workflow with Git and look at typical problems.

Last Friday, Lab manager for BUILD Connections Lab Helle Martens, and project manager at KEA - Københavns Erhvervsakademi Kirsten Grønborg held a workshop on how to create the best possibilities for university-industry collaborations. Participants were teachers and researchers from both schools and a few of our partners from the industry. We also have input from some of our students.

Last night, we presented the ten most important take-aways from the workshop at a fantastic Meet & Greet event at the IT-Universitetet i København.

We’ll be sharing our learnings with you before the holidays, so stay tuned for more!

SUX - Sustainable UX Manifesto
(How we can drive Sustainability)

with Thorsten Jonas
World Usability Day 2021 in Copenhagen

Designers are more powerful than ever. But, how can we use this power to drive sustainabilty and be a change in and with our daily work? What does it mean to design for sustainability? What do we need? And how can we get it?

As Designers we mostly put the user in the center of our work. This is how we define our job: creating outstanding experiences for the users, making things easy for our users. But, in these times we have to take responsibility for more than just the users. We have to take responsibility for the effect of our work on all actors in the system. Be it other people, the society or the environment.

I want to talk to you about Sustainable UX and our project SUX - The Sustainable UX Manifesto“. Because I think we need to start questioning our own work, challenging our colleagues and facing our clients. To be a change.

Because as the famous polar explorer Robert Swan once said:

„The biggest threat to our planet is the believe that someone else will save it.“

Tickets are free, but sign-up is mandatory. There is a 50DKK no-show fee. https://bit.ly/3jNj3xs
