Our Partner & Project Director Lise Gandrup Jørgensen joins the jury for the 9th edition of CHART Architecture 2023. This year's theme New European Bauhaus and seeks proposals that foreground its core principles of aesthetics, inclusion and sustainability.
"The new generation of architects is being formed by a world in economic, social, and ecological turmoil. Despite this, I see a lot of optimism in how they approach their role, challenging conventional thinking and pushing the industry in a more collective and collaborative direction. This year's theme provides an excellent foundation for innovative and unexpected solutions that center around the very core of architecture - creating spaces for humans to thrive across cultural and social differences. I am looking forward to exploring projects that offer new perspectives on what a responsible and inclusive aesthetic might look like," says Lise Gandrup Jørgensen

In her editorial critique for The Plan - Architecture Magazine our Founder & Creative Director Dorte Mandrup reflects on the relationship between nature and culture in a radically changing global context: "Within the last eight years, we have designed building for four sites deemed Unesco World Heritage for their extraordinary natural beauty and value. With each project, the questions of striking a balance between the natural and the constructed became ever more pressing. Is it better not to interfere? Or can architecture bring about a new relevance and awareness?".

How do we give back the space we occupy? With the rapid rate of population growth in urban areas, our cities are a critical part of the solution to the global challenges we face. We must live closer, on fewer square meters, and build communities with wellbeing as a guiding principle. In this Louisiana Channel film, Dorte Mandrup discusses the importance of communal spaces: "The key to density is figuring out how to maintain a high quality of life and wellbeing in small spaces. Both communal and individual spaces must be of higher quality - and I don't mean in a physical sense only but an accommodating quality".

To move through the halls of Gothenburg Central Station is to travel through 200 years of history. Since it opened in the 18th century, the station has been extended many times with one reoccurring architectural element – the vault. When Jernhusen AB presented us with the task of creating a new station building to the north, we envisioned a natural continuation of the journey through the arched halls. Our design for Mittuppgången is a symphony of vaults – orchestrating the changing rhythm of space and light.
We want to thank everyone on our wonderful team: Navjord Architecture, Arup, Gottlieb Paludan Architects, and ELU Konsult AB.
Congratulations to Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter AS for their winning proposal.

”The world has lost an important cultural voice and a brilliant and poetic mind. Prof. Dr. Christoph Stölzl, founding director of the Exilmuseum Berlin, was a grand and rare personality, naturally combining his brilliant intellect with kindness, generosity, and a wonderful sense of humour. I am immensely grateful to have been given the chance to meet him and work with him and his team at the Stiftung Exilmuseum Berlin. It saddens me greatly that he is no longer here to inspire. His enthusiasm and commitment to the Exile Museum was unwavering and it encourages us to work with the same dedication to see his vision through. Christoph Stölzl will be incredibly missed. We send our deepest condolences to his colleagues, friends, and family” - Dorte Mandrup, Founder & Creative Director.

Flanked by trees on both sides, the walk along the prominent axis Stadion Allé towards the characteristic red stadium halls in Aarhus is a heightened sensory experience drawing you into the woodlands of Kongenlunden. We are proud to share our design proposal for the new Aarhus Stadium and home ground for AGF. With its location in the beech forest, vicinity to the rich coastline, and strong connection to the city, we wanted to celebrate nature, history, urban life, and the community of sports. The stadium stands like a clearing in the forest, crowned by a protective canopy resting on a tree-like structure.
The project has an ambitious strategy regarding responsibility and inclusivity with upcycling and reuse of up to 100 percent of the materials from the existing building and the lowest possible energy consumption.
A huge thanks to the entire team and all our collaborators from Kristine Jensen Landskab & Arkitektur, schlaich bergermann partner, Søren Jensen Rådgivende Ingeniørfirma, AGN and Birkmose Consulting.
