Monday August 17th the Centre for Business History hosted their first meeting after summer and Corona.
The main purpose of the meeting was to figure out how to organize the group both next semester and implications in a longer perspective.
First Rasmus Johnsen, who has moved to the philosophy group and is associate dean for lifelong learning, joined us. He had some ideas on how we could proceed in our efforts to develop our teaching profile.
Later Mitchell Dean joined us for an open discussion on how the department will be organized and the departments agenda for the fall semester.

Call for Papers: Paper Development Workshop
The Centre for Business History at Copenhagen Business School will host a paper development workshop (PDW) for scholars conducting research on the uses of history and memory in organizations and organizing on Wednesday, December 9, 2015.
We welcome applications from scholars of all backgrounds conducting research on the question of why, how, and what affects the past is used by managers and organizations. The goal of the PDW is, in part, to support the development of research

More information about the Special Issue can be found here: http://goo.gl/UVnpPx
Limited funds may be available on a competitive basis for applicants who are unable to get funding from their home institutions.
Deadline for Abstracts: October 13, 2015
To apply, please email an abstract of between 300 and 500 words describing your research, along with a cv or bio to one the PDW organizers below. Today, an old farm house in Northern Zealand lends its walls to the presentations later to be shown at the Business History Conference 2015.
Ten scholars of the Centre for Business History discuss the research and presentations, which not only helps enhance the overall quality but also make the member of the Centre more aware of each others work.

In his new article, postdoc Anders Ravn Sørensen of the Centre for Business History analyses the narratives of four Danish central bank governors from the late nineteenth century until the mid-1990s.
By conducting a historical analysis informed by neo-institutional theory, he shows how these central bank governors were continuously involved in public debates over the appropriateness and desirability of their decisions and policies. In these debates, interpretations and reproductions of Danish national identity were central to the governors’ claims to legitimacy.
Anders Ravn Sørensen argues that past narratives of the Danish central bank and its governors enabled and framed future legitimacy claims and that the central bank and its governors gradually became embedded in national identity.
Thus, the article highlights the historical development of the co-configuring relationship between Danish national identity and the legitimacy of monetary organization.
