DIS is a non-profit study abroad foundation established in Denmark in 1959, with locations in Copenhagen and Stockholm. DIS provides semester, academic year, and summer programs taught in English, and offers high-impact learning experiences for upper-division undergraduate students from distinguished North American colleges and universities. The intellectually challenging curriculum is broad, cutt

ing edge, and enriched by experiential learning components, including faculty-led study tours across Europe. It provides students with opportunities for meaningful cultural engagement and personal growth, which is further enriched through housing and extracurricular offerings. Our students touched down in Copenhagen and Stockholm this weekend, marking the start of fall semester. DIS staff, faculty, and volunteers were there every step of the way, guiding students from the airport to their housing.⁠

Our students recently celebrated the summer solstice in Scandinavia, witnessing nearly endless daylight and and participating in the local festivities! 🌞

Midsommar in Sweden is rich with century-old traditions: flower-crown making, dancing around the midsommarstång (midsommar pole), and sharing meals with loved ones. Meanwhile, Sankt Hans Aften in Denmark means bonfires, speeches, singing, and picnics.

Live from the field: our Arctic Experiential Studies cohort is in Greenland! 🌍⁠

Students spent this past weekend camping near a fjord outside Nuuk, where place-based learning came to life immediately — from climate change and geopolitics to eco-psychology.⁠
⁠
Over the next month, the group will explore Greenland’s landscapes, connect with local communities, and witness the region's rapidly changing environment up close.

This week, the DIS Festival brought spring semester to a close in both Stockholm and Copenhagen, celebrating our students' accomplishments over the past four months and sending them off with a proper farewell.⁠

Both festivals featured quite the lineup: musical performances, poster presentations, student-prepared food, merch giveaways, and a raffle with an enviable grand prize — a flight ticket back to Scandinavia.⁠
