Alban Lendorf, a former principal dancer with the prestigious Royal Danish Ballet, where he also served as a teacher and instructor, has graced stages across the world, including the renowned American Ballet Theatre in New York. Today, he continues his artistic journey as a freelance dancer, actor, and ballet teacher.

His introduction to the world of ballet was a gradual yet transformative process. Alban’s artistic journey began with piano lessons at the age of four. Alongside music, he explored various sports until the age of eleven. But everything changed when his mother took him to an audition at The Royal Danish Ballet School. He was accepted, and from that moment, ballet became his grand adventure. “Ballet training demanded so much of my time that I eventually had to let go of all my other activities,” he recalls with a smile.

Alban’s passion for teaching ignited when he joined the American Ballet Theatre in 2018. Since then, he has been a regular instructor and teacher at various companies, including The Royal Danish Ballet. “Teaching is something I absolutely love,” he says. “It enhances my own dancing and offers the incredible experience of helping others grow.” He admits that after each class, he feels mentally rejuvenated and full of energy.

This summer, Alban had the privilege of teaching the men’s Elite group at the Summer School, guiding students aged 17 to 23. “It’s a significant responsibility,” he acknowledges. “When I prepare for my classes, I strive to create steps that are also enjoyable. My goal is to strike a balance between technique and the liberating freedom of dance.” He adds, “Ultimately, I want my classes to be the kind that leaves students hungry for more.” Seeing his students adapt to his teaching style, with their intense concentration and eagerness to learn, was deeply fulfilling for Alban.

Being invited to teach at the Summer School was a true honor,” he says. He particularly enjoyed teaching students from around the world and was impressed by their skills and dedication.
