Make Learning a Part of Your Daily Routine 12/11/2021

Management Tip of the Week from Harvard Business Review: Learning Should Be a Daily Practice

No matter what industry you’re in or how long you’ve been in it, the ability to learn is an essential skill, so conduct experiments as part of your daily work, whether it’s using a new productivity tool or trying out a new approach to meetings.

Set a goal of having one "curiosity coffee" each month, virtually or in person, with someone you haven’t met before that can help you view your organization through a new lens or someone in your profession at another company who could broaden your knowledge.

This tip is adapted from “Make Learning a Part of Your Daily Routine,” by Helen Tupper and Sarah Ellis:

Make Learning a Part of Your Daily Routine Strategies to help you get better at learning, unlearning, and relearning.

Last week Martin Reeves from Boston Consulting Group (BCG) came to Copenhagen and Aarhus to talk about his new book The Imagination Machine where he told a curious story about the chairman of LEGO:

"Every year the chairman of LEGO thanks the employees for doing the things they were not asked to do. I find that a very interesting idea. Embracing ambidexterity: you have to follow the rules, but you have to break the rules in order to have new rules, to have the best rules in order to evolve the rules".
