As a busy working mom with very little time to prepare fancy activities, I use everyday situations to teach my little bilingual language. Especially useful are phrases and words related to everyday routines where he also participates. Words coupled with action and palpable objects do magic for his language learning. What’s more, becoming aware of the language in that task makes him more independent and communicative🌸 The picture is from our annual wild blackberry picking in a nearby forest 🍀🌿🌱We learned lot of new words in Serbian and Danish such as blackberry, bushes, thorns, plucking the berries while stocking on the breakfast berries for a few days yummy

A really good memory tactic for learning new vocabulary is to make mind maps and always write your own example sentences. Here is a quite common verb in Danish that I made a mind map for. Since it’s a verb, it’s also useful to make a note on how it is conjugated in the past as well as what it means in different contexts.

For this week’s info graphic, I’ve chosen to make a word family of verbs beginning with the prefix Af- after some of my students asked me about them.
Lot of these verbs are used in a slightly more formal context such as at work or in correspondence with the municipality or authorities. Some of them have also more informal synonyms such as with at afslutte - at gøre færdig or at afgøre - beslutte eller bestemme.
Pay attention to the pronunciation of AF as /au/ in contrast to preposition af /æ/ as in Hun blev ringet AF Søren.
