🌐 Shaping the future of Eco-Campus together!
From 10–12 June, Eco-Campus National Operators, Higher Education practitioners, and FEE representatives from 12 countries gathered in Dublin, Ireland, for the Eco-Campus National Operators Meeting 2026, hosted at the Marino Institute of Education.
As the first meeting since Eco-Campus was separated from Eco-Schools as FEE's sixth programme, participants came together to co-create the next era of Eco-Campus - exploring how to strengthen quality, governance, partnerships, and impact across Higher Education.
Over three days, participants shared experiences from more than 25 years of Eco-Campus implementation, discussed common quality standards, explored pathways for growth, and identified opportunities for greater collaboration between institutions, students, researchers, industry partners and policy makers.
Highlights included:
✨ Seven Steps from Seven Countries – quality approaches to Eco-Campus implementation
🤝 Fundraising for Eco-Campus world café by Jan Froněk of FEE Member TEREZA (Czech Republic)
🎓 A visit to Dublin City University's Green Flag campuses led by Samantha Fahy, Sustainability Manager at DCU
🌱 Outdoor ecosystem restoration training with LEAF Ireland at the Marino Institute of Education
🏆 Celebrating Ireland's Young Reporters for the Environment National Competition winners (18-25 category)
The meeting concluded with individual reflections and commitments to advancing Eco-Campus nationally and internationally. We are excited to move forward together into a new era for Eco-Campus! 🌊 On World Oceans Day: 8 June, Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) is proud to release the Water Explorers Education Guide, developed in collaboration with Sow my Dream - Spindrift for Schools, the educational programme of Dona Bertarelli Philanthropy.
Designed for educators and other adults who support young people’s learning, this free global resource provides practical tools, hands-on activities, and inspiring examples to help learners investigate and protect the water environments around them.
Through local exploration, hands-on learning, and real-world stories from across the FEE and Sow My Dream networks, the guide empowers adults to nurture curiosity, environmental leadership, and a deeper connection to nature in the next generation.
Together, we are helping young people become Water Explorers in their schools, communities, and beyond by building the knowledge and confidence to care for our blue planet.
