An interesting 9 month job opportunity in Edinburgh:
Edinburgh University and Abertay University are embarking on an exciting new AHRC-funded project that connects technology, play, music performance, and virtual reality to create virtual auditoria that will allow audiences and performers to come together virtually in a series of recreated historic performance spaces. We would like to recruit a creative and motivated individual to work with the project team to help develop software solutions for mobile and desktop devices.
The successful applicant will be joining a multi-disciplinary team working on implementing 3D visual and acoustic models of spaces through a videogame middleware engine (e.g. Unreal or Unity) to create immersive VR experiences for a range of platforms that are likely to include the HTC Vive.
Applicants should ideally hold a first-class undergraduate degree or a postgraduate qualification in Software Development, Computer Games Technology, Mobile Development or a related subject area, and must be able to demonstrate some prior experience of experience design for VR, of working in cross-disciplinary development teams, and of asset handling and management. Some interest or experience in acoustics, music performance, or music production is desirable, though not essential.
