๐ค What do we actually mean when we talk about co-creation in global health?
Co-creation is more than consultation or stakeholder engagement. It is an iterative and collaborative process where stakeholders work together throughout a project: from defining the problem ๐ to designing โ๏ธ, implementing ๐, and evaluating ๐ solutions.
At its core, co-creation creates space for different forms of knowledge to be exchanged, challenged, and integrated through meaningful interaction and shared decision-making.
In Part 2 of our toolkit, you'll find:
๐ A practical definition of co-creation in global health.
๐ณ A decision tree to help determine whether co-creation is needed - or whether an existing solution can be adapted, implemented, or scaled.
๐ Recommended readings on co-creation, co-design, co-production, and co-adaptation.
๐ฌ Evidence-based principles for effective co-creation processes.

๐ก What can the world learn from Africa's approach to climate and health?
At the World Health Summit Regional Meeting Nairobi 2026, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners highlighted innovative solutions already making a difference, from climate-resilient health systems to community-led responses and new health technologies.
But one challenge remains: health is still too often missing from climate discussions and funding decisions.
Read Baumgartโs reflections on why Africa's experiences and solutions should help shape the future of global climate action. ๐

๐ Can green initiatives create conflict and inequality?
New research from the University of Copenhagen shows that renewable energy and conservation projects in Africa can generate local tensions and unequal distribution of benefits, despite their climate ambitions.
The findings highlight the need for a green transition that is not only sustainable, but also just.

๐ฃ๏ธ How much does language matter in health communication? More than we might think.
A new study published in the journal Science finds that even subtle shifts in how health authorities communicate can have major consequences for public trust.
Researchers from University of Copenhagen and University of Vienna examined changes in CDC vaccine messaging and found that emphasizing uncertainty in areas where there is strong scientific consensus can:
โ ๏ธ Increase perceptions of vaccine risk
๐ Reduce willingness to get vaccinated
๐ Lower trust in health authorities
๐ Increase susceptibility to misinformation and conspiracy beliefs
The findings highlight a key challenge for public health: communication must be transparent, evidence-based, and carefully calibrated. Even well-intentioned messaging can have unintended effects when it amplifies uncertainty beyond what the evidence supports.

๐ฉธ Nobody told us: Menstrual health journal club
How much of what you know about menstruation actually comes from science, and how much comes from myths, silence, or incomplete education?
Join for an evening where we'll explore research on menstrual health, translate scientific findings into everyday language, and reflect together on how they connect to our lived experiences.
This is not a lecture. It's a conversation.

๐งฉ How do we actually move from โwe should co-createโ to designing a real co-creation process in practice?
PART 3 of our co-creation starter kit takes you step by step through the planning and implementation of co-creation in global health โ from the earliest stages of a project to evaluation and reporting.
In this section, we explore:
๐ฑ Setting the stage
๐งญ Stakeholder mapping
๐ Needs assessment
๐ฅ Recruitment
๐ ๏ธ Co-creation methods
๐ Implementation
๐ Evaluation and reporting
๐ฅ This part also includes an example from the MBD-Free project in Zanzibar, showing one possible approach to designing co-creation around mosquito-borne diseases in practice.
๐ You will also find practical tools and resources, including planning templates, evaluation frameworks, and a methods selector tool with over 683 co-creation methods.

๐ ADVANCE moves into large-scale trials after successful feasibility studies across Europe
After successful feasibility studies across Europe, ADVANCE has shown that scalable, digitally supported mental health interventions can be feasible, acceptable, and engaging across diverse populations.
Now, the project moves into large-scale randomised controlled trials and implementation studies, generating the evidence needed to support wider uptake and real-world impact.
Building on these promising findings, all ADVANCE sites are now launching large-scale RCTs and implementation studies running until the end of 2026.
