We at V!LD are happy to announce Workshop II Being-With the River – A Remote Storytelling Workshop by the Torne River at V!LD Annual Conference 2025: Rewriting history, reimagining societies through art.
The presenters invite you to join a multidimensional storytelling workshop entangling memory work, storytelling, art-making practices, inquiry through art-making and thinking with different bodies of water. The workshop takes the form of a multidimensional story that is facilitated on-site by the free flowing border river Torne in the Torne Valley, somewhere in-between Sweden and Finland. During the presentation you will also be engaged to walk along or to be by a watery body while participating in the workshop. This requires a mobile phone, Zoom videoconference app and headphones with a microphone. The workshop is conducted together with the local weather, so please dress accordingly.
Presenters: Name(s) Eija Mäkivuoti, transborder storytelling multiartist Finland/Sweden & Jennifer Skriver, Post. Doc. Kolding Design School

In the nick of time, I made a comic about the election and elections! Continuing a quad-annual tradition started with the 2004 election that returned me to comics-making and set my current path. It’s available on my site with a pdf for printing if you are so inclined. I’ll post the link in comments.

Hear Jennifer talk about: Navigating the Boundaries Between Playfulness and Artfulness in Education

How can educators distinguish between playfulness and artfulness in the classroom? While both approaches enrich learning, they do so in unique ways. Playfulness brings elements of fun, spontaneity, and creativity into structured activities, encouraging exploration and breaking down conventional barriers to engagement. In contrast, artfulness engages deeply with aesthetic experiences, using the arts to evoke reflection and provoke critical thought. This presentation explores these distinctions, shedding light on how to use both approaches to foster inclusive and transformative learning environments. Join us to uncover the potential of playfulness and artfulness as catalysts for meaningful educational experiences.

Presenter: Jennifer Ann Skriver, Designskolen Kolding
