Over the past two Wednesdays, DD and EC visited the Greenlandic House, where they learned about seal skin and its traditional uses.

The children made some fantastic keyrings and posters, and also had the chance to try on Inuit clothing.

The external supervision report (tilsynserklæring) for the 2025–2026 school year is now available.

The report is based on several visits across the year, where the inspector observed lessons across subjects and year groups, spoke with students, teachers, and leadership, and reviewed teaching materials and plans.

The overall conclusion is clear:
Bjørns Internationale Skole meets, and in many areas exceeds, the level expected of the Danish Folkeskole.

Key points from the report include:

• Teaching across all subject areas (humanities, sciences, and practical/creative subjects) is assessed to be at the expected level or above
• Students’ academic standards in Danish, mathematics, and English are strong, with English highlighted as particularly high
• The overall academic level is described as “very high”, supported by both classroom observations and exam results
• There is a clear and consistent focus on democratic education, student voice, and respect for human rights

The inspector’s overall assessment is that the school functions very well both academically and socially, with a strong focus on both learning and wellbeing.

This month, we were delighted to finally celebrate our annual Cultural Evening following its postponement.

It is one of the moments in the school year that most clearly reflects who we are as a community, with students and families coming together to share their cultures and learn from one another in a genuinely open and welcoming environment.

This year’s event was one of the strongest in recent memory, with an impressive variety of food from around the world and a wide range of performances, including Chinese New Year celebrations, Indian Bollywood songs, a school band bringing together students and teachers, and jazz music performed by former students.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to making the evening such a success.

I de sidste par uger har eleverne i DD og DE arbejdet med 3D-print.
Vi var så heldige at få en forælder ud og undervise eleverne.
Eleverne konkurrerede i at lave den mest holdbare bro, ud af så lidt materiale som muligt. Nogle kunne holde til at en voksen mand stod på dem. Imponerende. Eleverne arbejdede med forskellige løsninger, et IKEA samle-selv bro, enkelte designs til mere avancerede.
Deres flotte broer vil blive udstillet til Kulturelaften.

I fredags var DD på tur om spildevand på Rensningsanlæg Avedøre.
Vi fik set anlægget og de processer vores spildevand kommer igennem for at blive renset. I laboratoriet afprøvede de miniudgaver af disse processer.

Last Friday we celebrated Chess Day at Bjørn’s International School, and the school was buzzing with concentration, strategy, and friendly competition.

Students from across the school took part in a series of matches, showing impressive focus, patience, and sportsmanship throughout the day.

The Green Team won the team competition after a strong performance throughout the tournament. The individual final was an exciting match between Aakrit and Shaarav, both from English D, with Aakrit ultimately taking the win.

This year’s Breakthrough Player award went to Rolf from Danish B, recognising his remarkable progress and performance during the tournament.

Well done to all students who participated and helped make Chess Day such a memorable event at BIS. ♟️

Yesterday, we celebrated women's history month for art day with zines creation, and paying homage to female artists from around the world.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the BIS Alumni Reunion this week.

It was a real pleasure to welcome former students (and staff!) back to Bjørn’s International School, reconnect, share stories, and hear about the many different paths you have taken since leaving BIS. Seeing familiar faces again in the corridors and classrooms brought back many good memories.

We are grateful to all of you who took the time to come by and be part of the evening. Your presence is what makes events like this meaningful.

We hope to see you all again next year, and hopefully many more alumni as well.
