My top tips for less demo and why its important 👇

Before we get into my tips, you might be asking: Why should I demo less??

There’s many reasons as to why I believe less demos makes the class better! But my top reason is very simple:

It makes you much more present in your teaching. Student will feel more seen. And it will actually make the few demos that you incorporate in class much more powerful.

BUT, not demoing can be difficult. Especially if you’ve created a habit of doing so. So here’s my 5 tips to demo less ❤️

1️⃣ practice verbal cueing 1️⃣
Just like how you would practice your sequence before class, try to practice only cueing without doing the poses. Start with something you’re more comfortable with, like Sun salutation or warm up/ cool down. 👍

2️⃣ half demos 2️⃣
Half demos are when you only do part of the pose. If you walk around in class, you can fx do the arm position together with the student. Or show the leg position but without the arms.

3️⃣ get off the mat 3️⃣
This one is for me just as important as demoing less. If you are able to walk around the room, it adds to the feeling of being seen as a student. So combining this with nr 1 can be super helpful!

4️⃣ only demo new things 4️⃣
This one is quite self explanatory, but basically only demo the things that’s new.

5️⃣ be transparent 5️⃣
Tell your students that this is what you plan to do during class, so they know what to expect!

Arm balance tips 👇

🌸 Start with Foundations 🌸

Explore and understand foundational poses like plank, chaturanga, and others before progressing arm balances will help your mind and body to grasp the idea of the arm balance much easier! Fx squat pose to crow pose, and lizard pose to eka pada 🙏

🌸 Build Strength and flexibility 🌸
Strength and flexibility provides room for stability in for arm balances. So instead of focusing on one pose, focus on your practice as a whole 🙏

🌸 breath control 🌸
Breath is the foundation of our yoga practice! It will help you focus, it well help you create momentum, and it will help you find balance. Try holding a pose while holding your breath, and you’ll realize how important breath control is 😉

🌸 seek guidance 🌸
Go to your favorite teacher and ask then to look at your shape for you. They will be able to give you personalized tips to reach your goal ❤️
