🎉 Our first week is complete. Welcome back, VIS!

We have loved seeing our students back with their friends, meeting new classmates, and bringing their enthusiasm and curiosity back into school.

Already we have been in the forest, given speeches, explored drama scenes, questioned what is culture and identity, written stories, hugged new friends (dog friends too) and so much more.

At VIS, we believe wellbeing and academics go hand in hand. When students feel safe, connected and happy at school, they are ready to take risks, ask questions, challenge themselves and truly engage in learning. When wellbeing is struggling, even the most outstanding curriculum in the world cannot have its intended impact.

That is why creating a school where children feel that they belong is at the heart of what we do.

A huge shout-out to our students, families and staff for helping make VIS a safe, welcoming and joyful place for every child. ❤️

Week one is in the books and we can't wait to see where this year takes us!

Here’s to a fantastic school year!

Opening Up the World Through Art and Conversation

Yesterday, VIS students had the opportunity to experience an inspiring evening of music, culture and conversation at the Thai Mother’s Day Charity Concert.

The event featured the internationally award-winning Wattana Wittaya Academy Girls’ Chorus, made up of students of a similar age to our own. The choir had just returned from Sweden, where they won two silver medals at the World Choir Games 2026. Seeing young people their own age perform at such a high international level gave our students the opportunity to experience Thai musical culture while seeing what dedication, collaboration and talent can achieve.

The evening also gave students a conversation with the Thai Ambassador to Denmark, H.E. Mrs. Suphanvasa Chotikajan Tang. Our students were able to ask questions, learn about diplomacy and Thailand, and even pick up a few words of Thai along the way.

They happily contributed to the evening's charitable initiative for the National Council on Social Welfare of Thailand.

These are the kinds of experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom by opening up the world through art, conversation and meaningful encounters with people and cultures beyond our own. 🌏🎶

And, of course, there were Thai snacks afterwards. The spring rolls were a particular favourite! 🥢

☀️🎉 That's a wrap on an incredible year at VIS! 🎉☀️

With our summer camps now complete, the 2025–2026 school year has officially come to an end.

What a year it has been! Together, our amazing students, dedicated staff, and supportive families have built a community where children have learned, grown, explored, and thrived. From the classroom to the lab, the forest, the sports court, international partnerships, and everything in between, we've celebrated countless moments that make VIS such a special place.

Thank you to every member of our community for making this year one to remember. We couldn't be prouder of everything we've accomplished together.

We wish everyone a safe, relaxing, and joyful summer break. Enjoy every moment, make wonderful memories, and come back refreshed. We already have so many exciting opportunities and adventures planned for the 2026–2027 school year!

See you soon, VIS! 💙🌍

👩‍🍳🔥 Cooking Club Goes MasterChef! 🔥👨‍🍳

To celebrate the end of this year’s Cooking Club, our IC6, IC7, and IC8 students took learning into their own hands and created their very own MasterChef-style competition.

The idea came directly from the students, who worked together to design the competition format, create teams, develop signature dishes, and organise every detail of the event.

Each team took responsibility for creating recipes, assigning roles, managing ingredients, and presenting their dishes to a panel of judges. Across three exciting qualifying rounds, six teams competed for a place in the Grand Finale, where the top three teams returned with improved versions of their creations.

This project was about so much more than cooking. Students demonstrated creativity, teamwork, problem-solving, communication, and independence as they moved from an initial idea to a fully organised event.

We are incredibly proud of the initiative, collaboration, and confidence our students showed throughout the entire process. A fantastic example of student-led learning in action! 🌟

🌲✨ Celebrating Forest School Moments at VIS ✨🌲

As we look back on some of our favourite forest school moments from this spring, we are reminded of the incredible learning that happens when the outdoors becomes our classroom.

Our students have explored art, maths, science, history, and literacy in a natural environment—practising fractions, conducting experiments, investigating the world around them, and solving problems in creative ways.

But forest school is about more than academics. Between the learning, there is time to run, climb a tree, explore, and simply reset. These moments help students regulate, connect with others, build confidence, and return to the classroom ready to learn. When students are regulated, connected, and engaged, they are better prepared to think deeply, solve problems, and achieve academically.

We love seeing the impact of outdoor learning not only in academic growth, but in social skills, wellbeing, and the joy students bring with them to school each day. 🌿💚

📰🌍 Young Journalists. Global Collaboration. 🌍📰

In June, we welcomed students from our partner school in the Netherlands.

Working in mixed international teams, our IC5 students and their Dutch peers researched, wrote, edited, and published a digital newspaper documenting the highlights of their time together. Throughout the project, students strengthened their communication, writing, and teamwork skills while learning from one another's different cultures, perspectives, and languages.

The photos capture some of the newspaper's highlights and the memorable moments that inspired them, told through the eyes of 10-year-olds from different countries who came together to create something they can all be proud of.

A huge congratulations to both VIS and OBS on a fantastic project! 💙

🌍 Reflecting on the Future with the U.S. Embassy 🌍

VIS school leaders were honoured to attend the celebration of the United States' 250th birthday, hosted by U.S. Embassy in the Kingdom of Denmark, alongside members of the diplomatic corps, government representatives, educators, and business leaders.

The evening showcased the rich culture and diversity of the United States through music, food, conversation, and community.

A particularly meaningful feature of the event was the Tree of Wishes, where guests were invited to write postcards to the future and place them among dreamcatchers. Dreamcatchers originate from the traditions of the Ojibwe people of North America, who created them as symbols of protection and care for children.

Inspired by this tradition of hope and care for future generations, VIS wrote our wish where we believe that every child has the potential to be a world changer, and we remain committed to helping our students build a future that is both prosperous and sustainable.

Thank you to the U.S. Embassy for bringing together leaders from across sectors for such a thoughtful moment.

🎨🌊 Welcome to the VIS End-of-Year Art Exhibition! 🌊🎨

This year's exhibition invites visitors to dive Under the Sea, a theme that inspired students across all year groups to explore a wide range of artistic techniques, including sculpture, texture, photography, print making, mixed media, and more.

Every piece on display reflects our students' creativity, curiosity, and growth throughout the artistic process; from initial inspiration and experimentation to the final masterpiece.

As part of their art curation unit, our 7 and 8 students took on the role of exhibition designers, planning the gallery layout and creating the visitor journey through the space.

The exhibition is a wonderful celebration of student voice, collaboration, and creative expression. Well done all VIS artists!

Come and explore their incredible work! 🐠✨

🐾✨ Meet the newest and fluffiest member of the VIS team: Mortimer! ✨🐾

Mortimer is our new school therapy dog, and while he's still a puppy, he's already settling into his important role and getting to know all of his adult- and child-sized friends.

At VIS, we believe that supporting student wellbeing is just as important as academic success. School therapy dogs help create calm, welcoming environments where children feel safe, connected, and ready to learn.

Mortimer and his brother will also play a key role in an exciting new international research project on dogs in schools, partnering with schools and universities across five countries to explore the impact therapy dogs can have on learning, wellbeing, and school communities.

Be sure to say hello and give Morti some well-deserved good-boy pats when you visit! 💛🐶
