Andersen Lab for Biomolecular Design The Andersen Lab at iNANO, Aarhus University develops nano-scale devices designed using biomolecules such as RNA and DNA as building blocks.

The Andersen Lab is focused on biomolecular design and is using biomolecules such as DNA and RNA as building blocks to obtain nano-scale structures and devices. Their research program can be divided into three principal areas; (i) understanding the fundamental principles of how biomolecules fold into unique and defined structures, (ii) designing, producing and characterizing both static and dynami

c nanostructures for the development of molecular biosensors, (iii) implementing theoretical and practical knowledge about biomolecular design for synthetic biology applications such as intracellular sensing and targeting, metabolic engineering and gene expression modulation. The group have been involved in developing the DNA origami method to create 3D nanomechanical devices and have recently invented the RNA origami method that allows nanostructures to be enzymatically synthesized and possibly expressed in cells. The RNA origami method was published in Science in 2014.

Det er faktisk 20 år siden at de første nanoscience-studerende startede på iNANO, hvor Aarhus Universitet var blandt de første i verden til at tilbyde en helt ny tværfaglig nano-uddannelse.

Både fysik, kemi og molekylærbiologi udgør en stor del af nanoscience og man bliver undervist i alle tre fag. Denne tværfaglighed gør kandidaterne til kompetente, robuste og vigtige spillere i udviklingen af fremtidens teknologier inden for områder som bæredygtige ♻️ materialer, energi, miljø, kommunikation, elektronik 📱 og fremtidens medicin 💊.

Congratulations 👏 to Ebbe S. Andersen who has received the Danish Polymer Prize, ATV | Elastyrenprisen 2021. 🏆

Yesterday the Danish Academy of Technical Sciences (ATV) awarded the Danish Polymer Prize to Associate Professor Ebbe S. Andersen for his pioneering research within biopolymers, including RNA origami aimed at biotechnological and medical applications.

The prize was handed over by the Chairman of the Prize Committee Professor Niels Chr. Nielsen.
