Today is Volunteering Friday! is a day to celebrate volunteers and we want to thank all the awesome players and citizen scientists who contribute to science through playing our games and support our mission to revolutionize scientific research and teaching through game-play. Volunteer, play our games and help science today! THANK YOU!
ScienceAtHome | Games
ScienceAtHome : Citizen Science project based at Aarhus University, Denmark. We create fun & educational scientific games that drive real research results.

For the this month we bring an interview with Robert Heck who started out working exclusively as an experimental physicist back when ScienceAtHome was created, and now, besides being in the lab, works partly as a data scientist!
This change came about as ScienceAtHome has grown and The Center for Hybrid Intelligence has emerged. We are still an interdisciplinary research team, now expanding our exploration of digital interfaces that facilitate collaboration between humans and algorithms.

Can Digital Tools Support Democratic Values?
Jacob Sherson is joining a panel discussion today at about bridging the gap between human desires and AI implementation using Hybrid Intelligence!
The current use of digital technologies facilitates ideological polarization and threatens the foundations of democracy. How can we use digital technology to protect or even enhance political, social, and cultural values by integrating expertise from the humanities at the development stage? We are excited to join the discussion!
Democracy in the Digital Age
Democracy in the Digital Age explores the effects of digital tools on politics, journalism, and the economy in democratic cultures. Can freedom of speech survive fake news? Have social media platforms poisoned political debate beyond recovery? Conversely, can digital tools be used to shore up and su...

Can you study creativity with games?
Our CREA project combines multiple games used to assess creativity so we can learn more about this amazing skill. Soon we will launch the full suite of games, but right now crea.blender SDG is ready for you to play! Unleash your creativity, envision our future and create images with the help of AI: https://mgmt.au.dk/center-for-hybrid-intelligence/digital-creativity-for-sdgs/
With this game we also focus on increasing awareness about the sustainable development goals .

We are happy to announce our new preprint on outreach training with a network of Ph.D. students in quantum physics from QuSCo, a MSCA-Horizon2020 research network. Our training focuses on building outreach products, skills, and personal outreach portfolios, as well as highlighting the benefits of outreach training for researchers. Based on our key findings, we provide guidelines for designing similar programs across scientific disciplines in the future ➡️ https://arxiv.org/abs/2103.03109

Is game-based cognitive testing the future of psychology?
Our gamified approach is more engaging for the participants, and less time consuming which facilitates scaling the distribution of tests. We have validated our portfolio using classical psychometric tests and our results suggest that it can one day become a viable alternative to the more time-consuming paper tests. Today Carsten Bergenholtz is presenting the paper at the Open Innovation in Science (OIS) conference ➡️ https://ois.lbg.ac.at/en/research/ois-conference-2021

Cognitive Abilities in the Wild: Population-scale game-based cognitive assessment
Psychology and the social sciences are undergoing a revolution: It has become increasingly clear that traditional lab-based experiments fail to capture the full range of differences in cognitive abilities and behaviours across the general population. Some progress has been made toward devising measu...

Is there an easier way to learn and understand quantum mechanics?
We introduce Quantum Composer, a software package that allows the user to explore one-dimensional quantum mechanical simulations by interacting with it! Composer has open-ended applicability in both introductory and advanced quantum mechanics courses and research. Check out the new publication about all the features and possibilities of this tool. https://aapt.scitation.org/doi/10.1119/10.0003396
