Last week, a couple of SEPM students traveled to Hamburg as part of a trip organized by the Planning and Environmental Association of Students (PEAS). Besides exploring the multifaceted city and enjoying the lovely spring sun, the students had the chance to get a guided tour through the so-called "Energy Bunker" in Wilhemsburg.
Over the course of the International Building Exhibition (IBA), plans were developed to transform the former war construction into an energy facility that produces power and heat using solar energy, bio-methane and a wood-fired boiler.
Even though he missed some technical details, the SEPM student Klaas concludes "The tour gave us students worthwhile insights in a unique energy project and helped us to merge theoretical knowledge with a hands-on experience.

As something new this year, we took our first semester SEPM students on an hour-long cruise to take in some of the main energy sights along the Limfjord - the largest Danish energy consumer Aalborg Portland which is also a main contributor to the local district heating system, some of the Danish emergency oil stocks and the coal-fired power station Nordjyllandsværket. In the photo, Henrik Lund tells about the ideas for cryogenic capture of CO2 from the cement factory Aalborg Portland for the use in the production of electrofuels.

Spring 2020 was a special semester and with a special graduation. We normally have a large event with speeches, music and diplomas being handled out - alas - this year everything was done online. Fortunately the country opened up in time for exams to be with physical presence - but 100s of students and parents from different programmes was a tad too much for the graduation ceremony.
So a virtual congratulation again - and photos of some of our graduates
