Our faculty are successful artists and pedagogues who have careers in opera houses in Germany and throughout Europe – professionals with important industry connections that will help you get a foothold in the business. We offer approximately 30 positions each session; this ensures an excellent teacher to student ratio, as well as a high degree of individualized attention, tailored to your own deve
lopment and career goals. You’ll have the opportunity to perform an entire role from the standard operatic repertoire, in one of the most historic cultural cities in Germany. Your time at the Studio will give you a realistic idea of what is required to launch your career – and just as importantly – what it takes to live and work in Germany. Each day at the Studio begins with German language and diction instruction, followed by master classes, group and individual coachings and staging review rehearsals. Coachings continue in the afternoon, and staging rehearsals take place in the afternoon and evening. You’ll receive instruction in vocal technique, acting, movement, diction, language and vocal interpretation. Daily coachings, master classes and voice lessons are taught by our resident and visiting faculty – internationally recognized artists and teachers with active careers throughout Europe and around the world. We have répétiteurs on our production team who are available to work with you on your personal repertoire, and to coach your role in the opera. You’ll also have workshops in résumé building, audition techniques, and have the opportunity to audition for professional German agents. Since 2008, we’ve been helping singers take the next step in their careers. We have experience, success, and a proven track record – more than 1,200 students have completed the Studio program in the last 19 years. We are proud that more than 10% of our alumni have been engaged by theatres in Germany and throughout Europe – that’s more than one singer in every 10 who have found work here – a success rate that is unique in a job market that is increasingly competitive.
