Who encourage us to decorate their home and to discuss why we would choose what.

What may look as nothing special has been proving a very strong environment for children to engage in, understand, explore, connect, structure, build positive memories and strong foundations to build on. Seamlessly and with the joy of play children need.

time! "Let these be the windows for Number Three's home..."

That's unprecedented (for me): Children from 3 to 10 years, mixed in rather large classes in rural Uganda, are about to embark on the Let's visit Numberland idea!

Today, we had a kick-off training for Omusugu John and his team from Nursery and Primary School, Uganda. No fancy things required, just creativity, imagination, and the right spirit. We'll see what happens and learn from each other!

= Teaching And Learning Using Locally Available Resources - while putting numbers and shapes into a child relevant and meaningful context!

Initially: "Drawing is boring."
A little later, after some visits to the Home of the Numbers: "Look, I made this picture for my friend, Number Eight!" And what a picture it is!
That's the magic of starting from the child. Simple, fun and beautiful as that. ❤️

Awe, that was so cute! 🥰 This morning, after reading and exploring "My Garden is a Square" together, the 4 to 5 year olds had a lot of fun to find objects for their new friends. Thanks to great reasoning, it made total sense that Number Two would get those specific items.
The children even fixed my hoodie to give Number Zero a nice hairdo (rather than appearing to cry because of the drawstrings) 😆
I left that Kindergarten moved and motivated. ❤

All dressed to read "My Garden is a Square" (or rather "Mein Garten ist ein Viereck") in a local Kindergarten with a group of 4 to 5 year olds :-)
